How to Loose $60 in Style -  by Andrew Cobb

Over an hour into a game with a few St. John re-buyers Niv and I found ourselves both over $60 after buying in for $20.  Niv posted his blind and Will as usual raised the blinds to $1.50 and surprisingly all 8 people called.  The flop came out 3 10 3 and everyone check to me the last person before the dealer.  Holding 10 J, I decided that this was to time to get the fish out of the water.  I knew at this point I was holding the best hand out there, so I bet $10 to make sure those holding cards higher than a 10 would not have a chance to catch those magical turn and river cards.  Niv sitting at the big blind spot is the only person to call my $10 bet, and not only did he call, but he raised me $15 thinking I was looking to steal everyone's blinds.  I thought to myself that I will not let Niv outplay me, so I called.  The turn came out as a 6 of hearts.  This was great because I was still holding the top pair.  He checked to me and I proceeded to bet $10 again.  He thought for a second, glanced at his cards and called me all in for $20 on top of the $10.  Now I was starting to question what he might be holding.  Some how I just knew that he was not holding a 3 and I had a feeling that even if he did have a 10 I would probably out kick him.  After a few minutes I decided to call and he showed me his 9 10 of hearts.  With only 9 hearts left in the deck I knew his flush would not hit.  David burned the last card and pulled out another 9 from the top of the deck.  I was stunned, of all the cards that could have come out I would have never guessed one of the 3 remaining 9s was going to crack me.  I felt that I played 10 J the way they were meant to be played and I would make the same bets and calls if it happened again.

Stephen gets Owned - by Kevin Toy

Location- Wei fest 2004
Date- Super Bowl Sunday

I was sitting at one of the three poker tables, Victor Garza to my left, Michael Wei to my right, and my good friend Stephen Sickman, straight across.  The cards are dealt; I look down at my hand, pocket kings.  My action, I raise, a small raise, 2 dollars.  Victor folds; Stephen stares at me, raises right back 3 dollars.  Everyone else folds and the action is back to me.  Normally I wouldn’t hesitate to call, but I know Stephens play too well.  He is representing aces, the only hand that can beat my cowboys.  I re-raise him, and he goes all in.  I stare at his aces with little surprise, and wait for the flop.  Two kings on the flop, an ace on the turn, and I win four kings against aces full.  Thanks Sickman.

$100 Poker Ninjas - By Austin Moss

Ok, so one day Greg Ortiz, Tony Villalobos, Teddy Tutson, David “Iceman” Crowl, and myself are all playing Hold ‘Em, $100 buy-in.  So you know, we buy a few cases of beer, chips, yada yada.  Also, Greg owns this money poker table, leather top, freakin’ sweet.  So we’re playing for a solid two and a half hour, when we hear some knocking at the door.  David being the last one to say, “Not it,” he has to go get the door.  He opens the door, and in an instant his head is chopped off.  I can only think one thing.  Ninjas.  Through the windows, the doors, even the walls, ninjas come pouring in.  Little did they know who they were messing with, minus David.  The four of us, being practicing poker players, knew everything about the game, including the art of card throwing.  So the ninjas have the four of us surrounded.  They all draw out ninja swords, ninja stars, and Skip-it’s™.  Each of us only had one card, not knowing what card it was, just how to use it.  The first ninja is using a Skip-it™ to try and make us lose our footing.  Teddy throws a card that goes right through the ninjas head and avoiding the mighty spin of the Skip-it’s™ thanks to his mad hops.  Then forty ninjas went after Tony and Greg, but they each threw their cards in such a way that each ninja’s torso split in two, so two times forty equals EIGHTY!!  I dropped the card I was holding when I saw the last ninja.  He was the boss ninja, and realized he was going to lose.  So he challenged me to one hand of poker, all in with his life and me all in with the four of our lives.  He was dealt a King of Spades and a Queen of Spades.  I was dealt a two of Clubs and a seven of Hearts.  It wasn’t looking too good.  The flop was a Jack of Spades, a 10 of Spades, and a two of hearts.  I had the lead.  But the boss ninja seemed very sure that the royal flush would be his.  The next card: a four of Diamonds.  Nothing for either of us.  The final card: an eight of Clubs!!!  I had won, saving all of our lives, and then the boss ninja blew up.  As we started to clean up, I noticed the four cards that each of us had during the fight.  All ace’s.
