November 2002

Greek Rugby League is founded by Colin Mylonas.A former junior player with Eastern Suburbs and lllawarra.

 

Sunday August 31st 2003

Greece play a trial match against New Caledonia and NSW Students Opens. They beat New Caledonia 26 - 10 but sadly loss to NSW Students Opens 34-0.

 

Saturday September 27th 2003

Greece play Italy for the Ionio Cup at Oki Jubilee Oval. The Cup was won by the Italians 26-24. Italy won the game in the final 3mins of the game. With a crowd of over 4,000 the future looks bright for Greek Rugby League

 

Saturday February 21st 2004

Greece play in the Wollongong 7's. They play two matches losing both sadly. They lost the first match 14-10 against Kiama and UTS Jets scrapped home to beat Greece 20-18 in the second

 

February 28th 2004

Rugby League World Magazine has released the Rising Nations XIII. A selection of the top players in International Rugby League who do not play for Australia, New Zealand or Great Britain. Two Greek players where picked Michael Tsougranis and Nick Nikitaris.
 

Saturday March 6th 2004

Greece fly over to New Caledonia for a test match. Greece smash New Caledonia 58-8 in a great performance by the Greeks. The game was almost called off cause of a Twister on the island a couple of days before.

 

August 22nd 2004

Greece head over to Melbourne Australia to play a Victorian rep side. Greece were without 5 of there best players and still were able to produce a gutsy win over Victoria rep by beating them 24-18 in front of over 3,000 people at Olympic Park.

 

2nd October 2004

Greece played Italy again in 2004 for the Ionio Cup. This time around it was played in Italian territory at Marconi Stadium. The Greeks were hoping to take the trophy off the Italian but they proved to be to strong. Italy ran away with the match 58-14 with 3 all in brawls in the first 10mins of play.

 

8th October 2005

After a big break the Greeks were ready to finally put a win on the board. The Greek travelled to Fairfax Stadium in Sydney's west to take on the Malta national team. Right from the start it was a great contest. With just 30secs left and Greece leading 22 - 20 Maltese player Daniel Spiteri scored a great try to win the match for the Maltese.
