Rabbinically Speaking Exciting Partnership between Golf Manor and Jewish Family Service Our
congregation and Jewish Family Service have initiated a new partnership as part of the Synagogue Outreach Project. JFS has hired Alan Goldkin as our Synagogue Outreach Coordinator.
Alan's role as the new liaison is to work directly with me, staff, and lay leadership of our congregation to enhance current programs and create new ones to help congregants deal with the kind of
modern dilemmas that JFS has the skills and resources to solve. By partnering with JFS, we will be able to
expand the quantity and types of services that we offer our members and keep fully informed of the resources that JFS can bring to Golf Manor Synagogue. In addition, Alan's involvement here will
enable JFS to be more responsive to our community and individual needs. Jewish Family Service offers a plethora of services, such as courses on parenting, support for caregivers of aging parents,
private mental health counseling, and adoption services. Alan has a broad and varied background in Jewish community building, both in the U.S. and in Israel. He is a former synagogue
president, Hillel officer, synagogue administrator, and kibbutz member. Funding for this project has been provided by a grant from the United Way Mills Trust Fund and the Jewish Federation of
Greater Cincinnati. Please welcome Alan in his new role at Golf Manor Synagogue, and contact me for specific programming ideas that you would like to implement.
Sincerely, Rabbi Hanan Balk
