Brendan Leonard

“DON'T COMPETE, CREATE”

Birth date:2/6/84

Home Town: Winettka, Illinois

Siblings: 2 older sisters and 1 older brother.
Show Facts: Started show by having it on a cable access channel in Chicago, Illinois a couple of years ago.

Perks: Has A.D.D.(my hero, so do I) and used to eat sand when he was little (as so did I, man i miss those days.)

Hobbies:"I have a crazy amount of hobbies; I played football, baseball, basketball, and hockey in high school. I am an avid wiffleball player, and I play the drums and bass guitar. I love playing music. Along with the filming and editing passion people had a hard time labeling me. Was I a jock, a nerd, a musician, an artist? Even I don’t know!"

Foods: "Junk food, what a surprise huh? I love sprite, Shark bites fruit snacks, Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls, and Pretzel rods."

Weird habits:"I really hate touching dirty stuff with my hands, I mean really hate."

Why'd he create his own show?:"I decided to quit playing hockey because I wasn’t having fun with it anymore, in an effort to find something to occupy my time. I started editing in 7th grade and I loved it, so I figured that it would be fun to try to do a TV show. One thing lead to another, and I'd say that today I’m pretty happy I quit hockey."

How'd he get his show on cable access?:"It was shockingly easy to get my own show, I just asked and they gave it to me, obviously the hardest part was not to make it look like a cable access show."

How does he come up with the ideas for his show?: "Ideas are usually the hardest part for most, but for me it’s a little different. I have ADD, which can be considered a “disability.” To me it’s the best thing I could ever have, my mind moves 1000 miles a minute, so when I’m in class I don’t always absorb my math lesson but I probably will think of five ideas for my show. I have to tell you, my friends and I are pretty strange birds, we don’t think like most other kids our age."

Brendans Humor?:"Sarcastic, subtle, satirical, boy I like “S’s.” I try to be funny without people seeing me try. I find it kind of embarrassing when people go to such great lengths to get a cheap laugh, I would like my jokes to take a little bit to sink in, then make sense in a few minutes. Maybe not that long."

What makes him laugh?:"Jon Stewart, and the other “Daily Show” reporters crack me up big time. I also like the Wilson brothers, Owen and Luke. Will Ferrell makes me laugh too, but the best laughs I’ve ever had have been with my family and friends, most of which you see on the show."

Funniest thing that's happened to him?:"For this I'll have to go with an old classic. In 6th grade my mom accidentally packed a beer in my lunch instead of my usual sprite. I traded it to my principle for a sprite. That’s a good one, eh? I guess it pretty much summarizes the wackiness that seems to follow me around."

What/who inspires him?:"Having fun is actually a big inspiration for me, the thought of making a TV show for my summer job is mind-boggling. I can’t imagine doing anything more fun than that. My mother and father are also huge inspirations, I’ve learned so much from my father, it’s immeasurable."

What shows does he watch?: "“The Daily Show” everyday, as well as the “Simpson’s,” I also like Conan O’Brien. In terms of dramas I am SO addicted to “24,” it’s a great show."

What kind of music is he into?:" I have a rather peculiar taste in music; I am really into the “independent rock” scene. I’d say that my siblings got me hooked into it. This type of music is what you’ll be hearing on the show. My favorite bands are Jawbox, Guided By Voices, Superchunk, Fugazi, the Pixies… The list goes on for way too long!"

How long has he been friends with the regulars on the show?: "It varies a little bit, I’ve known Pat Mohr since I was 4 years old, and most of the others I met in high school. We really have a tremendous relationship; we have established quite a reputation in our city for being funny, goofy, and always having a good time with each other."

If he could meet anyone, (dead or alive) who would it be?: "Wow, very hard question. I would love to meet Jon Stewart; I really love his humor, smart without distancing himself from the general audience. I’m sure he’s got some great stories too."

If he could do anything, what would it be?:"Fly, but in terms of things that are humanly possible, I’ve always dreamed of taking my show to this level, and the fact that its here is incredible, I really feel blessed, and I also feel that now is my time to prove that I belong here. (Sorry I had to end with the big motivational speech, I’ve already become too predictable.)"
