What? You want to know more about your humble webmistress?
Um, why?
TLC with Joe the wonder horse on Haleakala, Maui, June '09.
Just kidding. I
go by The Little
Corinthian online. I just graduated (after four years :0P) with my
transfer degree, and will soon be attending my third college to finish
my BFA. I'm a theater major. I love theater in all shapes and forms,
and I've
wanted
to be an actress or a costume designer since I was little. I have a
very strange sense of
humor and love political comics and politics. I love Converse sneakers
and I collect
snowglobes. I love to sing. Anywhere, anytime. Including the frozen
food aisle at the supermarket, complete with a tap dance. I cannot live
without
music and have an un-healthy adoration of Josh
Groban.
I am a true Disney child. Disneyland is my second home. It would be
first if they didn't keep making me leave when they close the gates. I love to read,
favorites including Dickens, trashy romance novels (Stephenie Laurens
is my hero), murder mysteries,
anything Shakespeare, Harry Potter, historical fiction and non-fiction.
And Twilight.
Yes, I'm a Twi-hard. I'll admit it. (C'mon, I live in the Pacific
Northwest. Give me a break.)
I am a geek. I've accepted it. I love to dance in the rain. Puddle
stomping should be an Olympic sport. I watch far too much TV, including
but not limited to CSI: New York (mmmm Flack),
Project Runway, West Wing reruns, Kathy
Griffin, America's Next Top Model, Real Housewives of New Jersey, Ghost
Hunters, The Hills (I know, I
resisted as long as I could- it's addicting! Although this season
sucks) and South Park. I am
incapable of sitting silently for more than two minutes and I bite my
nails. I will rip movies to shreds, but love them anyway. I can and
will quote every movie I own and far more than that. When I'm tired I
tend to giggle and talk loudly in different accents. Jack Sparrow is a
god.
Stephen Colbert is as well. Keith Olbermann is my old-man-crush. I
would sooner chose which hand to chop off
than pick between Mr. Darcy and and Belle's Beast. Men in uniform are
sexy. The same can be
said for men with accents (I think we just figured out why I like CSI:
NY so much). Peanut butter should be it's own food group. As should
waffles. Oh, and don't touch my dirt.
I first started costuming when I was 3. Well, ok, not really, but I
always wanted to play dress up. My mother could tell you in detail
about all the times I stole the Christmas tree's decorative skirt and
pinned it around me to be a skirt, or when I'd pin towels to my
shoulders for a cape, or the fully-costumed (i.e. stuff we stole from
my aunt's closet) productions my cousins and I put on for our family.
(Seriously. I have photographic
evidence.)
It was when I was 12 that my life changed forever: I saw the movie
'Titanic'.
It dawned on me during the course of the film how deep my love of
costuming went. For during the dinner scene, when Rose is descending
the staircase, while my friend were giggling over Leonardo Dicaprio, I
was
sitting there trying to figure out exactly how many hours went into
beading that incredible
gown. The costuming passion grew from there.
My first 'serious' costume was produced when I was 13. I took my
required three month stint of home ec (which unfortunately has now been
removed from the district's curriculum- but that's a whole other
story), came home, and sewed my first
costume.
I began making my Halloween costumes, and that quickly developed into
more extensive projects (and a financially draining addiction to fabric
and trim). I began designing and creating my own costumes, and
eventually other things, like my senior
prom gown. Upon
entering high school, I discovered the serious lack of costuming
talent, so took it upon myself to rectify that situation. I costumed
several of our school productions (as well as being a part of the
cast), including 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and the musical 'Cinderella',
both which included a gigantic ensemble. We're talking student
designer's hell here. (Seriously, the drama teacher asked me if I could
costume the Cinderella cast (63 people, all with double costumes, some
triple) for $600 bucks. I nearly laughed in her face. But I
digress...). Most recently, I made the costumes for (and played) Alma
Hix in 'The Music Man'.
I love reproducing designs from films and shows, and have recently
been inspired by the huge costume movies and musicals that have come
out, i.e. The Duchess, Lord
of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Wicked, and
random Disney
favorites. I also am very inspired by
less recent films, in the tradition of Marie Antoinette, Dangerous
Liaisons, Sense and
Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and my much-beloved Titanic. My
favorite historical periods are the late 18th Century and Regency eras.
Twirly skirts. Nuff said.
So that's me. Any questions? E-mail
me.
I'll respond.
Eventually. :0P
As Minerva McGonagall, your strict facade is complimented by a warm
heart, and you always do what is for the greater good.
As a member of Ravenclaw House, you are diligent, intelligent and
resourceful.
Hehehehehe!
You are Galinda, or Glinda depending on your mood!
You are the most
beautiful person in all the land...but you can
be a total bitch
sometimes too!
Take this quiz!
You scored as Lead Role. You are
THE lead! NO-one else comes close! But you better watch that ego...What
goes around comes around pretty quick.
