Troop 318 Positions


This section breifly overviews all of the positions our troop currently have, as well as their duties and who, specifically, it is that does them.

SPL
The SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) is, more or less, the head of the troop. He runs meetings, organizes potential events, runs PLC's and is generally in charge of all troop 318 events.

ASPL
The ASPL (Assistant Senior Patrol Leader) is the assistant to the SPL. He acts as the SPL in his absense, and is effectivly the 2nd in command of the troop. He also is directly responsable for the troop positions other than SPL, troop guide(s), troop instructor(s) and JASM(s).

Troop Guide
The troop guide is like a mentor to the rest of the scouts in the troop. He helps with basic scout skills like knots, first aid, etc. In our troop, he also helps run the shark patrol, which is our patrol for new recruits (wow, we sound like a cult).

Patrol Leader
The patrol leaders are the heads of our patrols. They keep their patrols organized on troop events, they run patrol meetings and they have say on all matters concerning their patrol.

Scribe
The troop scribe takes notes on basically everything of importance to the troop. PLC's, minutes from troop meetings, etc.

Chaplin's Aid
The troop chaplain's aid runs the religious aspects of the troop. This usually entails prayers, grace before meals, and to motivate troop members towards earning their religious emblems.

Troop Historian
The troop historian is responsable for keeping record of past troop events. He takes photos, arranges montages with them and keeps logs of what happened on them.

Instructor
The insructors (there is rarely less than one) are like the troop guide in many aspects. They help with basic scout skills, but they arn't allowed to sign off requirements for scouts.

Troop Librarian
The troop librarian is in charge of the troop library. It is full of Merit badge books, reference books, etc., all related to scouting.

Quartermaster
The troop's quartermaster is responsable for all of the troop's gear and equipment. He keeps tabs on everything in the storage area, delegates who cleans what after outings, and he is who you ask to borrow any troop equipment.

JASM
The JASM (Junior Assistant Scout Master) is an older scout, who is training to be an assistant scout master.

Gamemaster
This is a position unique to our troop. The gamemaster is responsable for organizing all sports events the troop partakes in.

Webmaster
As the webmaster, I am responsable for running and maintaining this website and updating it (which I do about once a week).
