Adolescence Today
Adolescence is a time when parents help prepare their children to enter the world of adult responsibilities. Parents today often work longer hours, and have fewer supportive connections with their extended family and community than they did in the past. This may leave them with fewer resources to guide, teach, and set limits for their children.
When relationships between parents and their children become strained, teens may turn more to their peers for guidance & support, and/or to drugs, alcohol, violence and even suicide as ways of coping with stressful experiences.
Family Therapy
Current research is showing that family therapy can be highly effective in reducing destructive conflict, and in promoting beneficial changes in the lives of parents and their children.
