Seeds of Change Counseling was founded in September 2001 by two University of Oregon Graduates, Dave Boyer and Walt Powell.
Dave Boyer is a licensed marriage & family therapist, certified alcohol and drug counselor, and co-founder of Seeds Of Change Counseling Services in Eugene, Oregon. He earned his bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Oregon and received his masters degree in counseling with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from the College of Education at the University of Oregon. Dave enjoys playing the drums (a rocker from way back with a current love of most styles of music), backpacking, good ol’ backyard barbecues with his family and close friends, and lounging out in the evening with a dog-eared copy of Lord of the Rings.
Dave has a broad range of rich experiences in the field of therapy, including: couples therapy, family therapy, trauma therapy, work with court mandated adolescents, crisis counseling, domestic violence therapy, and various individual therapies. Much of his current clientele are in some stage of recovery from substances.
He also teaches family systems concepts for substance abuse treatment in the Substance Abuse Prevention Program at the University of Oregon, as well as sitting on the board of directors for a local substance abuse treatment agency since 2000.
Walt Powell has since left Seeds of Change to pursue other interests.
