Pvt William Pitchford Stone CO. "C" 28th Alabama Infantry 1844 - 1938 William P. Stone was born 4th of May 1844 to Wiley and Candice Buckner Stone in the shadow of Stone Mountain, approximately 15 miles east of Atlanta. On 4th Feb 1862 at age 19 William P. Stone became a private in Capt. Maxmillian Tidmore's Company. William was twice wounded, once at Murfreesboro & then at Chicamauga. The regiment surrendered at Greenesborough, North Carolina.
