"Oregon born.......Tennessee in my Heart"
City Girl? NOT!...Country Girl? You betcha!
I'm so glad you decided to come in and see me.
I don't get much company at my house because everyone is always worried about whether
I'm sleeping, resting or whatnot...but little do they know that I am "sneaking" in here
as often as I can so I can visit with all my friends and relatives online.
Please visit "The Battle..The Survial" of Cancer page.
I was born Linda May Spivey on 10 February 1950 in a beautiful little town of Baker City,
Oregon. The county is Baker as well. I was raised for the first 12 or so years of my life
on the "other side of the tracks" which is South Baker. Actually, I'm told that South Baker
was one of the "first" parts of town to be established in Baker. Anyway, I loved South Baker.
It was quiet and we had lots of other kids who lived down there that we used to play with. Some
of our "neighbor brats," which is what most of were generally called anyway, were the Whites,
Garretts, Hughes, Richards, Leasy, Zemmers, Kenworthy, Mann, Johnson, Miller, Garner, and the
list just goes on and on.
I am married to a wonderful man, I call him BJ, and we moved back to Baker City when he
retired from the Marine Corps. He had 21 years of service under his belt. He comes from Washington
State.
At the time I decided to do my website, both my parents were still alive. A few years later now, my father, Claude, will be 90 in December, and sadly, we lost our mother, Ernestina on 19 May 2005. My father has lived here since 1929 when his parents
uprooted from Tellico Plains, Tennessee and moved to Baker, Oregon. My father met my mother in
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico when he was stationed there with the Military and married her in Brooklyn,
New York in 1947. From there they took a train back to Baker and have lived there ever since. From
this married I have two sisters, Evelyn (Evey Sue), who has one son, and Diana (Deany), who has 3
sons, and one brother, Ron, who has 1 son and 2 daughters. I have 5 children and 2 step-children,
so I always say I have 7 children. My son, Travis, is the oldest of them all, he has 3 children
(1d/1s/). My daughters are Rachael (3d), April (1d/1s), Heather (1s), Misty (2s/2d),
Jamie (1d), and Shakira (2s). Grandchildren are; Destiny, Cody, Britnay, Korina, Taylor Jane, Taylor May, Jerad, Cristopher (CJ), Aidan, Ailah, Anoah, Aeris, Julia, Weston Grady and Luke
Genealogy has been my life these past few years. Even when I was sick I tried to get in and
clean up some files...took me a whole lot longer than it used to, but oh well! I originally
began my genealogy because of my health. I did a little here, a little there and by the time I
was 36 I had a genealogy chart back to my great great grandfather's "name." I thought that was
pretty exciting....little did I know what the Genealogy Bug really was all about until my mother
bought me a computer in 1997 and my boss bought a years subscription to the internet!! I didn't
even know about the internet until he showed me on his office computer!! Now I know what I will
be doing when the day comes that it's time for me to go.....and believe me, I will go kicking
and screaming now because I still have so much research left to do!!
If you've made it down to this paragraph then I must say thankyou for being so patient. I am glad
you came to visit and I do hope you enjoy the rest of my site. Please come back to my homepage
often and see what new and exciting things I may have had a chance to add.
