The 201 Club first evolved from a group of wild, sex-positive, funny women in Seattle, who decided to get together, socially, to support one another. Over time, the group came to align with other fat-positive groups. The group originally had a 200 pound requirement, but we often made exceptions for those who donned heavy jewelry, etc.
Over time, Mama Sutra began to offer fat-positive workshops and write articles on body esteem. She found it interesting that mostly thin, blonde women enrolled in her body esteem workshops, proving thin women are in weight slavery as much, if not more, than fat women!
From fat goddess prayer flags to Venus of Willendorf chocolates, from fat-positive rubber stamps to voluptuous mermaid soaps, Mama Sutra seeks out items to expand our narrow standards of beauty.
Appreciation for body diversity liberates women from weight slavery and body hatred. Mama Sutra supports the use of alternative imagery to empower women in the bodies they currently live in. You do NOT need to shed big chunks of yourself. You just need to change your world!
