Inside the big library door
Is a whole world to explore
Animal stories, Adventure,
Fairies and so much more.
I can find out all that I need to know
When through the library door I go.

Our library collection contains over 10,000 books.
Each class comes to the library once a week. The
1st and 2nd graders learn about bookcare, fiction
and non-fiction books, and about book arrangement.
The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students receive lessons
on types of books, card catalog, and how to use the
library. Kindergarten students have storytime.

National Children's Book Week has been celebrated
since 1919. It is dedicated to spreading the word
about children's literature and encouraging the joys
of reading. Annually, the week before Thanksgiving,
schools and libraries applaud books and reading by
coming up with ideas to mark this special event.

This year your child will have an opportunity
to participate in the Accelerated Reader Club
in the library. It is a computerized reading
program used to encourage and improve reading.
1. Students select a book from a list or look
for books on the shelf with a star on the spine.
2. Students read the book carefully.
3. Students take a test on library computer.
4. Points are awarded depending upon the book's
point value and the number of correct answers.
Students must pass the test in order to receive
the points. The points add up to earn rewards
including treats and coupons.
The student with the most overall points in each
grade level at the end of the school year will
receive a $25.00 gift certificate to Walmart.
