A Word From Brenda

I dedicate this site to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for all that He has done in my life! I hope to bring a message of encouragement in your times of trial, and to offer hope to all those in need. Look up! Your redemption draweth nigh...Praise God!!

Times Of Trials
And Testings... Why?

As I have walked with the Lord, I have come to understand the basic fact, that there WILL BE times of trials and testings. It is usually in the midst of these times though, that I begin to question...WHY is this happeing?! It seems as though it would all be so much easier to get through if I could just grasp this one concept. The truth is, I do know why. I just don't want to suffer!

Deuteronomy 8 v.1-3
All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe (be careful) to do, that ye may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware (promised) unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove (test) thee, to know (learn) what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

God speaks very clearly as to why we are to go through such difficult times here on this earth. "Remember to keep My commandments, so that you may obtain what I have promised to give you from the very beginning." It was only a few weeks ago that I had a very serious discussion with my 9 yr. old son regarding his homework and the weekly papers he was required to bring home to me. I told him on the way to school that if he didn't do what he had been asked to do...that day...that he was grounded for the weekend. Later that morning, Michael was invited to go stay the weekend with his cousin, who had just rented the Nintendo 64 system! How I hoped and prayed all day that Michael would do what he was told to do. He had no idea of the blessing that was to come as a result of his obedience, but I sure didn't want him to miss it. Thankfuly, he actually minded and did get to have fun for the weekend. How often are we reminded of God as our Father... a Fathers heart, who wants to bless us and is up there ready to let us pass through this wilderness and on into the promised land, IF ONLY WE OBEY...this time...PLEASE! So many times I warn him, remember what you have learned. So many times God warns us...Remember what you have learned.
I heard not to long ago, that many believe that the "promised land" is a place where we no longer battle. That is not true.

Deuteronomy 11 v. 8
Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it...

This scripture clearly shows that after we go into the land, then we begin the real battle. The one we have gained strength for from all of these times of testing during the wilderness! Do the tests ever stop? No. Will we ever be allowed to rest?... at times. For how long? Only God knows. Do the testings mean that I have not yet reached my promised land? Not at all! Each giant you conquer is a test in itself! I have five children. Each one reacts to situations in a different way. It takes time and patience for us to train our children, taking pieces from each day to use as lessons and examples for them. God knows that we all need to grow and mature. He knows that it is only by faith that we will be able to please Him. So He allows us to go through situations that require faith to get through it. Each one of us learning a different lesson, as He determines we need, as His children. It is so simple, really... but how we question God during the midst of these trials.
Jeremiah 3v.19
But I said, How shall I put thee among the chldren, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

Gods love for us is so much more than the love we could ever show our own children. His plans for our life are so much greater than the hopes and dreams we could ever imagine on our own. If you are walking through a trial and are wondering when will this ever end? Be faithful and encourage others with these same words. The God of all Creation loves you and calls you by name. Remember those things that the Lord has already brought you through and be thankful. Give Him Praise and Glory, forever and ever...Amen
