A Word From Brenda
Don't let my love grow cold
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast (firmly to) our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities (weaknesses); but was in all Points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Shortly after the death of Princess Diana, the people began to cry out for their Queen to "Show us you care!!" People the world over were shocked and devastated, as I was. The papers screamed headlines at the castle walls... my favorite was "give those boys a cuddle!" The people were grieving, still no response. No outward show of emotion, no compassion or understanding. They were too high and above the crowds to be touched. In fact, that very quality is what endeared Princess Diana to the hearts of the people.
She laughed and cried, held babies and comforted the sick. I felt as if I knew her. And That is the key...to Jesus!
After I gave my heart to the Lord, I began to read His Word. I grew up familiar with the Bible stories, but now it was different. Jesus became real to me. I read in Mark of how he ministered to the need's of the people, putting His own needs aside. I could picture Him by the sea shore, or sitting up on a mountain, looking out at the multitudes of people...His heart filled with compassion. He touched the hearts of the people
When we first get saved, it is so new and exciting. It's easy to tell people I was lost (it was only last week) and now I'm found! We understand the frustrations of those who are trying to live right, but without the power of Jesus, only to fail again and again. We cry with those who are lost, we rejoice with the angels for that one who gets saved!
WE Were Real!!
Somehow, after a time though, it is all too easy to retreat into our "heavenly castles of self rightousness", too far and above the rest of the world to be touched. No tears are shed for the hungry and the sick that cross our paths daily. A mild smile crosses our lips at the salvation of hundreds we see on those crusades.... we become cold in our spirits, and far removed from the hearts of the people. They are crying out, come out from the walls of the church! They are sick and we have the power to heal them, by the Blood of Jesus! They are hungry and thirsting after something that they don't even know what it is...It's Jesus!
Are YOU Real?
We are to become more and more like Him, reaching out and touching the very hearts of the people. Meeting them where they are at, not afraid of getting our dress alittle dirty... The more of Life we receive, the more we have to give! Let them see the realness of Jesus alive in you today!
