XerØ "The Villain": A victim of circumstance, XerØ is caught up in the life of Polaris, and instead of getting out while the getting is good, takes an opportunity to possibly rid the world of one more psycho supervillain. He does so with major hinderances all along the way, as he loses more and more equipment and has to rely on his wits and desperate measures.
A brief digression. In Underworld Unleashed, Dr. Polaris sold his soul to Neron in exchange for the death of his other personality, Dr. Emerson. The theory being that without the "weak" Emerson to drag him down, Polaris would never lose his powers or otherwise be pushed aside. Neron kept his bargain to the letter. He killed the alternate personality.
But, as it seems to be here, he didn't cure the disorder, and Polaris sprouted a new "good" personality to replace Emerson...whom neither personality liked. The events of Genesis were all the excuse needed for this new persona to push to the fore and set up the cat and mouse game of this issue. XerØ has to rely more and more on his native skill instead of his powers and uplinks. At the end, he's treated to an odd inversion. So much of late, he's noticed how being white has got him treatment that he might not have gotton as a black, yes the villagers beat him while he was white...and worship him when he's ditched the suit and is black again. Y'see, they get ESPN over there too (or a reasonable facsimile). Maybe this will help Trane start to see the power he has as just a man.
Meanwhile, Lake managed to pick up great deal of info and sneak out without being seen by Trent, so now he's starting to put the pieces together. Should he choose to let Trane know he knows about his double life, it may prove to be the straw that breaks the back of XerØ's ethical camel (no THERE's an image)...implement EO313 on a man he's starting to see as a friend or father figure? Or break away from the agency? And if he doesn't kill Lake, can he protect the man from all the Closers who have no qualms about doing so?
