Ad&d 3rd Edition

Character training rules

These guidelines supercede normal 3rd edition rules concerning character advancement. There will be times that characters will require training to advance in level, to gain spells or abilities of new levels. It is a given fact that training to first level is paid before the character sets foot into the adventuring world.

The training cost indicates the amount of gold times the character’s present level that is required to secure training. This assumes training in a medium to large city.

Racial modifiers may affect training cost. For example, half-orcs training in an elven community might cost more, while a dwarf training in a dwarven village might cost less. (Whoever told you life was fair, was lying to you…)

·        Exception – Barbarians never require training to advance in levels.
