Possible Dead Ends in CJCLDS Doctrine

Their main religious text, The Book of Mormon states that by following an experiment, one can supposedly prove the book's "divinity".

  • One first is supposed to read enough of the book, especially the portions describing the experiment.

  • Then one must "ponder", or think, and thus understand this explicit experiment itself in relation to the whole book.

  • Once one understands the book's reliance on this experiment (stated in nearly every part of the book), one is ready for the final part.

  • The reader is supposed to pray, as outlined in the book and with the intention to follow this religion if the experiment works, and ask, if the book is true, that the aforementioned deity, if that deity exists, would give them sufficient reason to trust and follow.

The "reason" this deity is supposed to give the performer of the experiment is supposed to be some sort of "revelation" from a "Holy Ghost" deity.

If this experiment does not work, then an individual has a perfect proof that at least all the parts of the book explicitly tied to the experiment are in fact not devine. The CJCLDS would have serious difficulty explaining why such an individual should join and practice the religion. Hypothetically, there would be no better way to honestly get rid of door to door, "tracting" CJCLDS missionaries from one's doorstep.
