Why do we kill?

On April 20th of 1999 at Columbine High School in CO, 13 students and their teacher were killed. The two gunmen who killed themselves that day went into their school on a killing rampage. Armed with guns and bombs, handgrenades and explosives hidden all over they attempted to kill the jocks and people with white hats on. In total 15 died that day, and countless numbers of students were injured.

This was definetly not the first of the school shootings. Why does this happen? This is the question that so many of us are asking now. Is it in their blood, was it brought on, did they learn it? Why, that is the final question.

Killing is not the way to solve this problem in my opinion. It did not solve anything or make things better. I feel it only made things worse. What good was done? Death, pain and an eternity of suffering is all that was brought on.

I will never understand how people can kill. I will never understand why people kill. I hope that we can solve this problem. School is the last place we should fear for our safety. It can happen at "your" school. It could happen at my school.

We don't need to target the kids being taunted or the ones taunting them. We need to target EVERYONE. We need to teach tolerance and acceptance. We need to teach people to get along and tolerate each other. We will never like everyone. Yet we need to learn to live in peace.

I hope we can solve our problems without violence in the future. Let's learn to get along people.

*~*May the souls of those who are now gone rest in peace. They are in heaven now. Watching over us from above. They are with God now.*~*
