Now Playing: BOYCOTT GREEDY CORPORATE PRODUCTS
Topic: REVISIT GHANDI - BOYCOTT
The corporate media is quite fond of pointing out that the OCCUPY WALLSTREET movement has no central direction.
It's hard to pinpoint one issue since the corporate influence runs deep within our economy and society and it's unrealistic to camp out indefinately in public places with the realities of winter and the obligations of many to work, be it as it may.
Ghandi comes to mind now in how one man led a whole nation against what was then a world empire: Great Britain. He achieved this goal by passive resistance and boycotting the offending institutions and businesses.
We have already seen a move to transfer funds to credit unions instead of big banks.
Making a list of those institutions which have their hands in our backpockets and then avoiding any business with them is a decided first and wonderfully effective start to a strategy for change.
For instance:
- I boycott WALMART on principle, particularly as the "Marie Antoinette" Walton, the heiress of the Walmart empire, is slated to open a museum of America art at the cost of several hundreds of millions of dollars in her backwater town while simultaneously reducing the already meager health benefits of workers, and taking off family members from health insurance accounts. WALMART gave the reason that health care expenses were too high.
- Health care: unless you are bleeding to death and require stitches or have a bone to be set, there is little real need to engage in the medical system. The pioneer museum in Eugene, Oregon has a covered wagon with a medical kit in it: homeopathic, th point being that homeopathy is the original American healing system which was overtaken by the fatsos of the American Medical Association (AMA). When I raised my kids and still use for me and my pets, I use homeopathy. The cost of this is the relatively inexpensive cost of the remedies. And should you not know how to use them, I suggest abchomeopathy.com which has a nifty software feature to enter your symptoms, push the button, and there is the remedy needed.
- ENERGY: change over as you are able to hybrid, electric vehicles. Invest in wind and solar power. Insulate your home, buy some wool socks and sweaters. You know what to do.
In addition vote out everyone in office and insist on CAMPAING FINANCE REFORM, which is the key to getting corporate funding out of politics.
A good strategy would be to make lists of offenders and then systematically BOYCOTT them en masse.
Here is the kernel of the problem with corporate capitalism: the corporations sent jobs overseas to avoid paying fair wages, taking care of environment, and workers' rights in general. Because of this there is less capital in circulation and in hand with less jobs: less taxes. Less taxes means less services which we have paid into (like social security) and now the government and Republicans want to take this paucity of funds out of the hides of the "99%".
Repeal all the NAFTA type agreements which are nothing more than a race to the bottom deals in which we are pushed out of the middle class into a world wide third world worker class. And you see OBAMA and his chronies racing to create as many agreements as quickly as possible.......don't even get me started on OBAMA with his clever forked tounge.
