The fact of the matter is, Steve loves movies!!!!!!!!!!! Steve loves everything about movies— from the acting to the dialogue to the lighting to that guy who gets all the famous people sandwiches–Steve loves it all!!! Therefore, the pages of ...Alias Steve would never be complete without a comprehensive record of those films held dear by Steve.

These Upcoming/Current Releases Have Whipped Steve into a Frenzy of Excitement!!

In October 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkitsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary.

A year later, their footage was found.

The Steves recently went to see what all the hype was about and came back with mixed reviews. Karen, while fairly entertained, was not scared or entirely interested in the Blair Witch movie. Kristina, while disappointed at not being scared, was highly entertained by the whole thing and even MORE fascinated by the film's awesome website www.blairwitch.com.

And, if you're interested in this supernatural film trend that seems to be picking up speed, check out the site for the upcoming movie Stir of Echoes. Here is a brief description from the official site:

Stir of Echoes focuses on the disturbing and unnatural events that suddenly intrude into the otherwise ordinary life of an ordinary man with an ordinary family, living in an ordinary, working-class, Chicago neighborhood. That man--Tom Witzky, portrayed by Kevin Bacon--finds himself lured into a ghostly world, which literally forces him to right a cruel wrong.

Big Daddy - Starring Adam Sandler, Joey Lauren Adams (of Mallrats and Chasing Amy!!), and a cut er-than-heck little boy. Comedy -- Opens June 25, 1999.
Update: Brandon and I saw this movie and we were very much entertained. It was more heartwarming than hilarious, but definitely worth our time and money.

American Pie - Starring Jason Biggs, Jennifer Coolidge, Shannon Elizabeth, Alyson Hannigan (Yay!), Eddie Kaye Thomas, Chris Klein, Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Owen, Tara Reid.

Steve is absolutely DYING to see this coming-of-age story about a group of high school dudes who make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. Comedy -- Opens July 9, 1999, with both of the Steves' butts planted firmly at the front of the line.
UPDATE: Both of the Steves have seen American Pie and agree that it is hands down one of the funniest movies of all time. If you think you can handle it, go see this movie IMMEDIATELY!!!

Steve's FAVORITE COMEDIES

When it comes to comedy, Steve does NOT mess around. Without laughter, life would be nothing but an empty pit of despair, so what better to get you guffawing than a spoof, some slapstick, a few raunchy theatrics, or maybe even some smart dialogue...?

The Comedy of Mike Myers, that Feisty Canadian Genius

Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me (currently in theaters) – Starring Mike Myers, Heather Graham, SETH GREEN (who we love!), Rob Lowe, Robert Wagner, Wendy Sterling, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Hurley, and many, many others.

This movie was HILARIOUS! If ever there was a sequel that lived up to its own hype, Austin 2 is the one! I am happy to say that Austin 2 is also a financial success. In its opening weekend, the movie grossed $54.7 million, which is even more than the first Austin made in its entire domestic box office run ($53.9 million).

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) – If you have not seen this movie, you must refrain from speaking to Steve until you do so. This amazing comedy has even won the hearts of my parents, the original rain-on-the-parade-of-good-comedy duo (even if they won't readily admit it.) If you STILL don't want to see this movie, then "get away from me you lazy-eyed psycho!"

Steve's Other Mike Myers Favorites:

So I Married An Axe Murderer (1993) ("Head! Move! Now!") (I can still do the entire monologue where Charlie's father, also played by Mike Myers, freaks out about The Colonel's chicken.)

Wayne's World (1992) (It's impossible to think of my high school years without remembering this movie.)

Here is a GREAT site devoted to Mike Myers: Miketown.

The Comedy of Kevin Smith, the Only Man Who Invokes Awe in Steve

Kevin Smith is Amazing. He is godlike. His wit is not to be believed. He SPEAKS to me. I would give ANYTHING to be on the set of one of his movies. Okay, enough about that. It is absolutely necessary for anyone who has any interest in Kevin Smith and his movies to visit his own personal website, View Askew.com. This is an excellent site, with a ton of information about all of these classic movies:

Clerks (1994)
Mallrats (1995)
Chasing Amy (1997)
And coming in Fall of 1999, DOGMA!!!!

To see how cool Kevin Smith really is, just take a look at his business cards.

Other Comedies That Make Steve Laugh Her Arse Off!!!

The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982, made for TV) – Starring Anthony Andrews, Ian McKellan and Jane Seymour. Okay, I'll admit that I wasn't expecting much when my female parental unit forced me to watch this flick about three weeks ago. HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised to find my initial misgivings proven wrong! This is by far one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen! Sir Ian is a great villain, Jane Seymour is actually good in this movie, and Anthony Andrews portrayal of the shallow aristocrat/ swashbuckling hero is unequaled. I give it an enthusastic recommendation to any and all viewers!
