History of the L&L Brigade
In the spring of 1998 a wonderful new couple was begun
on General Hospital: Lucky and Liz. Many fans could
not get enough of this great romance, especially
when GH was only showing them once or twice a week,
so they flocked to the Internet to discuss their
favorite couple. Soon, ABC.com gave L&L their own
boards and a steady group of posters began to bond.
Over the months, we L&L fans became
more and more discussed with the limited airtime they
were getting. One day, a particularly fed up fan named
Kueken declared that we would form a Brigade and, if
ABC didn't start listening to our cries, we
would march on the Studio! Boo, being the only poster
at the time who lived in L.A. was asked to be the Commander and
the Boo Brigade was born!!! As the summer went on,
L&L gain popularity (and airtime), and the Brigade
grew and grew and grew! So many songs and stories
were being posted and lost on the ABC boards, that the
Brigade started a web site of their own. As more and
more people asked to join the ranks, the Brigaders
decided to make it an official club and renamed it,
"The L&L Brigade." Boo divided the
Brigade into four Regiments and selected officers to
lead them. On September 15, 1998, the Brigade had it's
first great victory when L&L finally shared their
first kiss. In celebration, the Brigaders contributed
together to send flowers and balloons to the Studio.
This was the first of many projects. By the end of the
year, membership had grown to 100. By the Brigades
one year anniversary, that number had nearly doubled.
The Brigade continues to grow and gain recognition.
We have successfully completely many projects, which
can be seen and read about below
, but our favorite thing still to do is dish about L&L
and protect the integrity of this beautiful story on
this wonderful show!

Flowers for Jonathan and Becky for TK1
A basket from the Brigade was delivered to the GH
Studio on September 15, 1998 for Jonathan & Becky in
honor of the long awaited and anticipated First Kiss
(aka TK1). The Basket had flowers, balloons, and two
stuffed animals. A card was also enclossed, at that
time we signed it from The Boo Brigade. {We received
confirmation at SSW3 that they in fact did receive the
Flowers when Capatain Kreyn asked them. Both Jonathan
and Becky Thanked the Brigade for the Flowers!}
Lucky Charms to Rosie
One of our first Brigade “Missions” was to try to get
Jonathan and Becky on Daytime Talk Shows. dentonj
from the NNN Regiment came up with a great idea for
the first Mission. She suggested that we decorate
boxes of Lucky Charms and send the boxes along with
letters to The Rosie O’Donnell Show. We have a lot of
very creative people within the Brigade and I’m sure
that the staff of Rosie’s show didn’t know what had
hit them when they started receiving the boxes. This
was a fun project that I know many Brigaders enjoyed
participating in. {Although many Brigaders did receive
an acknowledgement that their Box was received, Rosie
did not have them on the show; however Becky did get
to do the opening announcement on May 20th the day
Before the Daytime Emmy’s in NY.}
SSW3 Brigade Gathering
There was an official Brigade meeting at Super Soap
Weekend held November 14 – 15, 1998 at Disney's MGM
Studios in Orlando. This was our first official
gathering! The Meeting was handled by Captain Kreyn,
No Name Nurses Regiment. Some those in attendance
were: Captain Kreyn, MizVamp, jjsjoy, LCiam,
randjluvr, pvtfanatic, Lilacday among others (if you
were there and you want your name added to the list
please let us know). Captain Kreyn had Green T-Shirts
made up just for SSW! The shirts had Lucky & Liz, |_
_| , andBrigade on the front and “Lucky & Liz are The
Best…The Best There Is” on the back. These shirts were
a great success and brought a lot of attention to our
little group. In fact the L&L Brigade got a some
nationwide publicity due to LCiam who sent an article
along with pictures to Soaps In Depth Magazine who ran it and pictures
of a few of the Brigaders who were there! Great Job
LCiam!! {While at SSW a few items on the Brigade’s
“Wish List” were accomplished! First, Jonathan and
Becky acknowledge the Flowers from the Brigade, and
Thanks for Kreyn'’ fast thinking she got pictures of
Jonathan and Becky doing the Brigade Salute! You Go
Girl!!}
Flowers sent to GH in memory of Norma Conolly
Norma Conolly who played our beloved Aunt Ruby died on
November 17th, 1998 in L.A. A bouquet of Irises and
white Lilies mixed with fall flowers in a wicker vase
delivered to the cast and crew of GH. The card read:
"Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of
your friend and co worker, Norma Conolly. Many of us
grew up with "Aunt Ruby" and will also miss her
terribly." The card was signed The L&L Brigade (an
Internet fan club for the Lucky and Liz story).
Letter Writing Campaign (to keep JJ on the show)
Keep Jonathan on The show went the battle cry!!
Captain LL1998 of the Boxcar Regiment suggested
organizing a petition through email AND snail mail.
She wrote a letter stressing all of our concerns and
had Brigade Members e-mail her if we wanted to be
included in the petition. The petition included all of
our names (or first initial and last name), hometown
or state, age, and email addy. She sent copies to ABC,
Wendy Riche, and JJ among others. {Captain LL1998
worked long and hard collecting the letters of
support, making copies and sending the petitions out
to all the people at ABC, GH and Jonathan’s fan club.}
Picket Signs
Picket signs were created by some VERY creative
Brigaders to show our Protest to GH for NOT re-signing
Jonathan to a new Contract. They created a wonderful
images with pictures of JJ and phrases like "Oh no!
We don't want JJ to go!" This
Misson was taken on and enjoyed by many Brigaders who
loved getting an opportunity to show their support of
Jonathan and let TPTB know how they were feeling. The
ABC Boards Never Looked so Colorful!
Christmas Wreaths
One of the Biggest and Most Successful Brigade
Missions is the one we took at Christmas. Commander
Boo brought up the idea of making Christmas Wreaths
for Jonathan and Becky as a reminder of what the Lucky
& Liz storyline has meant to all the members of the
L&L Brigade. She decided to make the wreaths something
that they could have up all year not just at Christmas
time. Next, Boo enlisted the help of all the members
of the Brigade to send her items to put on the
wreaths, that are or have been part of L&L's story.
For example: a little boxcar from a train set, a tiny
teddy bear (missing an ear) to be Boris, an ornament
of a computer or a guitar, a magnet of a brownie, a
little paint set, a little pug dog to be Foster, etc.
There were so many items received from all over the country that Boo
couldn't even use them all!
She delivered them to the ABC Studios the first part
of December, along with a card from all of us
(including an explanation of what each thing in the
wreath is suppose to be).
The Wreaths were delivered on a
Monday and by Wednesday she received A Thank You
Letter and an Autographed Photo from Jonathan &
Becky!!! Also, Jonathan thanked one of our Brigader’s
(in an online chat) for the Wreaths!!
Click her to see pictures of the wreaths and a list of all the items on them
