William, Prince of Wales

William

This section of my site is about the person who will probably be the next King of England, after his father (Prince of Wales a.k.a.).

Don't miss the links on the bottom of the page!

This is an interview with William made by Aaron Gilmer:

First and most importantly I wish to make clear the fact that I am a human being like all others. My biochemical processes are similar to yours, I must eat to live, and I must drink to avoid dehydration. That is the most annoying thing I can complain about. People don't seem to think that we're people too. We make mistakes, we cry, we laugh, we do those things. We are a family, a group of people who, if not to anyone else but to ourselves, are real. For example, I look on the shelf and see a picture of The Prince of Wales, a.k.a. my Father. That frustrates me. Most people look at the title and forget the person. Yes, though, he and I are both Heirs Apparent (whereas Queen Elizabeth II was an Heir Presumptive) to the throne, according to the regulations of succession. That places a certain protocol that is different from that of common people. (A protocol which you, for instance, have defied, and yet the laws of nature are not in shambles, the sun still shines and Earth's internal balance is still... balanced.) But yes, we do have certain responsibilities and therefore certain advantages. As for me, I'd have to think about what to say about myself. I'm so used to me, that I don't really THINK about me, I just AM.

Here is some facts about William...
1985-87: Mrs. Mynor's Nursery school in West London.
1987-90: Wetherby School in Kensington, London.
1990-95 : Ludgrove School in Wokingham.
     1995-???: Eton College.
     ???? -???: My guess - Oxford University
Born: June 21, 1982 at 9:03pm weighing 7lb 10oz. St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London. Star Sign: William has a borderline birthday (June 21), and so, he is considered to be both a Gemini and a Cancer. Some astrologist cut off Gemini at the 20th of June, while some cut off at the 21st. Homes: Boards at Eton College. Dad Charles at St. James's Palace and Highgrove, Gloucestershire. Always welcome at Grandma's place! Christening: August 4, 1982 at Buckingham Palace. Full Name: Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor or Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Schlesweig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha Title: His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales Left-handed Height: 6'1" Weight: 125-130 pounds (I have been told he weights 127 pounds as of March 7th, 1997) Hair Color: Sandy blond Eye Color: Yellowish brownish green (Hazel) Cars: Favors fast cars (don't we all??) Nick names: Wills, Wombat, Billy, 'Billy the basher' Pets: Dog named Widgeon (age: 4) who is often seen with William on his hunting excursions. What is the Royal Family's last name? Genealogically, their last name is Schlesweig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, but some years ago, the Queen decreed that she and her descendants would have the name of Mountbatten-Windsor. Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Schlesweig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (I am very happy the Queen shortened the name!). Could Prince William marry an American?: According to The Act of Settlement of 1701, persons in direct line to the succession may not marry a Roman Catholic, and because the Sovereign also holds the title of Defender of the Faith of the Church of England, (which does not favor divorce) a divorced person would also present problems. There is, however nothing to prevent either Prince from marrying a Protestant non-divorced American, (or any other nationality) (except public opinion). Food: Pasta, hamburgers, chocolate, venison, fruit salad, poached eggs from hens on his father's estate. Drink: Coke, red wine Hobbies and sports: Loves shooting more than anything else. Also likes skiing, tennis, soccer, hockey, rafting, rowing on the Thames River, swimming. Favorite hobby, apart from sport, is painting at which he is excellent.

One former Eton College student had this to say about William: "He [William] takes part in Beagling (hunting hares with beagles) at school. Apparently quite keen." "He [William] has also tried his hand at fencing, but not much good at it." Personality: Public: Shy, Skiddish. Worried about the media. FAMOUS QUOTE: Well, I don't really know what to say at the moment. I'm normal (to my standards); I bleed when cut, just like you. I'm a bit oblivious to the need for all this information. I don't understand what the fuss is about. Prince William - February 4, 1997. Private: Outgoing & caring, tends to keep to his own group of friends to which he is very close. He is willing to participate and do most anything that a normal teenager would do This includes breaking the occasional rule to have fun. Dislikes: The media taking his picture. Having a security team to protect him once he leaves the palace walls. Biggest achievements: Ability to present himself in public & put up with the press. Holding everything together while his parents marriage fell apart. Biggest mistake: From looking at the papers, I get the impression that William does not feel comfortable out in public with hundreds of reporters, each trying to get the hundred-dollar-shot, pushing each other out of the way to achieve their own needs. Enjoys the night life. He's been left with the occasional hangover after illegal drinking sessions in schoolmate's rooms at nights. He has - along with his bodyguards - he's been allowed to kick-up-his -heels at several disco parties in London. At the age of 13 he stated that he would not join the Royal Navy like others before him. Has tea with the Queen every Sunday. Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997): -- William used to go with her on frequent vacations in the Caribbean. William was extremely close to his mother, and relied on her very heavily for advise and guidance through the difficult periods he faced during the first 15 years of his life. IN THE FUTURE: Looking forward, I see that William will do his best to add to his existing support base of friends and family. Before, I feel that William relied almost exclusively on his mother for help & guidance while he looked to the Queen for a since of duty and belonging. I think we will see William building up his support base in the future to include other members of the royal family, especially Peter Phillips. Peter & William have been friends for a long time. Over the past few years both Peter and William were known to have a rivalry in sports and it is also known that William looks up to & respects Peter. (additional information on Peter Phillips below) Boxers or Briefs?: -- William prefers boxers but will wear both. Music: -- William is known to like Techno music. The Spice Girls seem to be a favorite along with the theme song to Mission Impossible. He is also known to listen to Pulp & Oasis. Tara Palmer-Tomkinson: -- Most glamorous girl William knows. Age 24. She (with her older sister, Santa - Age: 25) often go with William, Harry & Charles on summer cruises through the Greek islands on millionaire John Lastis's yacht. MTV: -- William tries, whenever possible, to sneak in and watch the UK edition of MTV. This implies that William does not have cable at his home. Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997) felt that television (along with computer & video games) were anti-social, therefore cable was never connected to the palace. Cindy Crawford: -- Former, most glamorous girl William knows. Tiggy Legge-Bourke: -- She used to be the Social Secretary to Prince Charles and had been acting as a surrogate mother to the young princes after Charles and Diana separated. CURRENT STATUS: Prince Charles has re-called Tiggy into active duty following the death of William's mother (this move was highly praised in the UK Press). Peter Phillips: -- Son of Princess Anne, Princess Royal. Peter and William have shared a rivalry in sports for several years. CURRENT STATUS: Following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales - William has relied on Peter for support through the difficult times. Peter can clearly been seen standing next to William in the public appearance the family made prior to Diana's funeral. Emilie van Cutsem: -- Mother of Hughie and Edward van Cutsem who are special friends of William and Harry. She apparently acted as surrogate mother to the young princes on many of their holiday breaks. The Queen, who takes a special interest in her grandson's life, has given him the following 10 commandments to obey when going to discos: 1.He must not smoke. 2.He must not drink alcohol. 3.He must not take drugs. 4.He must not kiss girls in public. 5.He must avoid if possible being photographed by the media inside the dance. 6.He must be accompanied by his detectives at all times. 7.He must be with a trusted school friend. 8.He must arrive and leave with royal aides, not with school pals. 9.He must be home by a certain time. 10.He must get permission before attending any discos or parties
