"Losing It "- Diva's Page

Here I am in 1988 at 217 pounds, laughing on the outside and crying on the inside.  Life has  been a series of diets since the age of fourteen.

Many past diets were successful but not for long.  Weight Watchers, NutriSystems, Diabetic Diets and countless others all worked but the weight was always  regained quickly because nothing was learned about a permanent way of life.  When I joined  ASD, an Internet diet support group in 1997, goal was once again in sight but I kept getting stalled, finally reached the 140's  in May of 2000, and got a new outfit and a new nickname, "Pink Mama"

An illness in March 2000 had led to completely new eating habits  using unprocessed whole and organic foods.   At the age of 70  the key to a healthy way of staying slim was finally  in place.  Summer of 2001, below, and a trimmer shape emerged.  Weight and appearance were still the priorities. The journey was not quite over, in fact it never is.  Something important was still missing.  Happily, the  best was yet to come.

Exercise was the  vital ingredient never added to previous programs.  It was the key to getting below goal and maintaining with ease. Free weights, stair climbing, speed walking, aerobics and floor exercises turned back the "aging"  clock and brought fitness. I started by lifting small cans of vegetables and  increased up to  eight pound free weights. Check out the grey area on the right.  The shadow that hides the true shape.

December, 2001,  and maintaining comfortably at 132 pounds  ready to welcome the New Year having fulfilled  Eternal Resolution Number One ( lose weight and get in shape). It took   hard work to get there and it is going to take a lot more  to stay !

An old dog CAN learn new tricks and feel like a pup again. Even when you age you don't have to choose between being being thin and being attractive.  It is never too late to make changes!
