Rules, Regulations and Entry Procedures |
1. The categories of carvings to be
judged in each level are:
Carving In the Round | Miscellaneous |
Relief Carving | Decorative Birds and Waterfowls |
Caricatures | Stylized Birds and Waterfowls |
Chip Carving |
2. The level of carvers will be classified as follows:
NOVICE | a carver who has NOT won a FIRST PLACE RIBBON in any specific category in any carving competition. |
INTERMEDIATE | a carver who has won a FIRST PLACE RIBBON in a previous carving competition at the NOVICE level in that specific category. |
ADVANCED | a carver who has won a FIRST PLACE RIBBON in a previous carving competition at the INTERMEDIATE level in that specific category. |
For example, a caricature carver may have moved through NOVICE to INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED in that category, yet still be at the NOVICE level In any other category, as an example Relief Carving. | |
NOTE 1 | Individual Club IN-HOUSE competitions do not affect any of the above classifications. |
NOTE 2 | The Honour System prevails in determining a carver’s classification. |
3. Entries must have been completed in the 12 months preceding the competition
and must be entirely the original work of the entrant.
4. Carvings from kits or machine duplications as well as Intarsia are not
permitted. Woodburning will only be allowed as part of a wood carving entry.
5. A $7.00 entry fee will be charged for the first carving entered and $3.00 for
each additional entry, with a limit of 2 entries per carver per category at any
level.
6. Registration will take place between 8: 00 A.M. and 10:00 AM. on the day of
the competition. All entries must remain in the display area until 4:OO P.M. on
the day of the competition at which time they may be claimed up to 4:30 P.M. No
exceptions to the above will be allowed.
7. The show judges reserve the right to transfer any carving from one level or
category to another Ievel or category or to combine categories where the number
of entries is not sufficient to provide competition.
8. First, Second, and Third place ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of
the judges.
9. THE JUDGES DECISIONS WITH RESPECT TO ALL AWARDS AND ENTRIES IN ALL LEVELS AND
CATEGORIES WILL BE FINAL.
10. While every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety and security of
your carvings, BROOKLIN WOODCARVERS will not be responsible for any loss or
damage to any carvings entered in the competition.
11. In order to register for the competition, please read this first and then go to our registration form page. Once there, print the form by either pressing the Print button on your browser toolbar or by selecting the File menu on your browser, and then the Print submenu. Once you have printed the registration form, kindly complete it and bring it with you to the show.
