Between the Ropes: The secret life of Adam "Accolade" Azure.
Scene fades in to a room that looks like it belongs to an academic professor. The walls are covered in book shelves. Each shelf is packed with hundreds of different volumes of literature. All the classic book are there. Moby Dick, A Tale of Two Cities, Macbeth, etc. Among the novels also sit encyclopedias. They cover topics ranging from China to Space to Historical Documents. In the middle of the room sits a large, mahogany desk. An expensive desk set cover to top of it. The chairs in the room help to accentuate the distinction of the everything. They are appolstered in stiff red leather and stuffed with horse hair.
On the wall behind the desk sits a large glass case. Sitting in the case are some very well recognised objects. The defunct CWF Stable Title, the unsanctioned Universal Title, and the respected and reverred ICWA World Title.
From the left of the picture steps "Natural Wonder" Shane Jackson. He's outfitted in a charcoal grey suit. A white shirt can be seen under the suit jacket. He wears a red silk tie diagonally stripped with silver blue lines. His hair is gelled up. He wears no sungalsses.
Shane: Hello viewers. Tonight I have the priveledge of bringing you a special VH1 program. You will be viewing Between the Ropes: The secret life of Adam "Accolade" Azure. This documentary showcases the little known facts and quirks of the CWF star. I will be rpoviding the commentary for this special presentation. At this time I would like to point out that some of the content in this program may be distrubing, and may not be suitable for younger viewers. Now, at this time, I invite you to make some popcorn, grab a blanket, and get comfortable. I am now pleased to bring you, Between the Ropes: The secret life of Adam "Accolade" Azure.
The scene fades out.
In fades a still picture of Adam Azure as a kid. Shane's commentary begins:
V/O Shane: Adam Azure. A wrestling star in the CWF. He's a performer and entertainer. Adam puts on a show every time he enters the ring.
A picture of Adam standing in the ring with a packed arena house behind him.
V/O Shane: "The Accolade", as he's known, is a role model for a generation of young americans. But what many people don't know is the life he lives outside the ring.
A photo of Adam, as a child, playing with his dog appears on screen.
V/O Shane: As a child Adam was always an outsider. The children at his school found him difficult to deal with and hard to understand.
A man appears on screen. He has blonde hair and glasses. A name appears at the bottom. "Luke Lindstrom. School mate of Adam Azure"
Luke: People didn't like Adam. When ever you got too close to him he would bite you. I remember, one day, when I was playing soccer with several of my friends. Adam suddenly ran out onto the field. I ran into him completely by accident. Within seconds he had shoved me to the ground and was on top of me and chewing on my shoulder. It was almost like he thought he was a wild animal. I don't know, he just really wierded people out.
V/O Shane: His Great Aunt Edith recounts a vistit Adam had to her pig farm.
A an old woman, probably in her 70's appears. She is dressed in a green dress with yellow and orange flowers all over it.
Edith: This one time, when Adam was about 7 or 8. He came up to stay with me on my pig farm for a week during the summer. I don't know why he did it but he kept attacking my pigs. One day I found him sitting in the pig pen, in a big puddle of mud. In his hands he held a baby piglet and he was chewing on it's ear. The pig was squealing, but Adam just kept gnawing away at it. I had to beat the boy out of the pen with a broom. I sent the little bastard home the next day.
V/O Shane: As Adam began growing up many people thought he would out grow his animalistic behaviour. They were pleased to see their assumptions were correct. As he entered junior high he started acting more like a normal boy. At least that's what it looked like.
Several pictures are shown of Adam doing different things throught his junior high years.
V/O Shane: It didn't take long for a new aspect of Adam Azure to surface.
A pretty woman appears on screen. She has brown hair and green eyes. Her name tag appears at the bottom of the screen. "Julie Kavanaugh. Classmate."
Julie: I remember when I first met Adam. He was different from anyone else I had ever known. Not different in a good way, different in a disturbing way. Every day at lunch hour he would go outside and fill his pockets with dirt, then he would walk around the rest of the day like that. Sometimes he'd take rocks, glue them together, then tie them to the backs of his shoes. When he walked down the hall there would be little rocks dragging behind him. He was so strange that even the retarded and handicapped kids would make fun of him.
V/O Shane: Adam struggled through Elementary School, Junior High and High School. When he finally graduated, 3 years behind everyone in his class, he headed off to college. Still strange, Adam had a tough time fitting in.
A man comes on screen. He's dressed in a grey cardigan sweater. His hair is black with white streaks. His name appears at the bottom. "Norman Anderson. College Professor."
Norman: I don't know where to begin. Adam just wasn't college material. He was continually shouting obscenities out in class, and throwing his pencils across the room. I remember one day I came in to class and there was Adam, perched on top of a desk, dressed in his underwear and smearing peanutbutter all over his body. I tried to get a psychologist to talk to him but whenever he was asked a question Adam would start picking his nose and flicking it at the psychologist.
V/O Shane: Right now I feel we should jump ahead to Adam's wrestling career, and save him a little embarassment by not showing some of the other college footage we have of him.
On screen a picture of Adam Azure and Demetri Lynn appears. They are standing together, each with an arm over the other's shoulders.
V/O Shane: Adam spent much of his early wrestling career as a tag team wrestler. His partner was Demetri Lynn, a respected member of the wrestling community. The two of them were collectivley known as Critically Acclaimed. Together they were one of the hottest tag teams in CWF history, overshadowed by only a hand full of teams, one of which is the Decot Brothers.
A man that looks very, very similar to Demetri Lynn appears on screen. It quickly becomes clear that he is an impersonator and no the real thing.
Demetri: Adam is a tough man to figure out. I can remember when ever we would share a hotel room while we were travelling with the CWF, he would always do something that just didn't sit right with me. Most of the time it was what he choose to wear. Often he would walk around the hotel and sometimes even the city wearing his wrestling tights. Now, I know that doesn't seem strange but the thing was that they were about 3 sizes too small for him. You could see everything, and I DO mean everything. There were several times, at night, before he'd go to bed, he'd wrap his mattress in plastic wrap and then pour baby oil on it. I never questioned him about it. I felt it was better that I didn't know.
V/O Shane: A short while ago Adam and Demetri split up. They cited creative differences and went their seperate ways. Since the break up Adam's career has flourished. He's won the CWF World Title and had several monumental feuds. Currently he has found an ally in former rival Diablo. They call themselves KOA, or Kings Of Anarchy. The funny thing about this pairing is that many people describe Diablo as living the same type of life as Adam. I understand that numerous people have seen Diablo in the arena parking lot, after a show, licking the bumpers of cars and sticking his fingers in the tail pipes. One can only imagine the types of things that these two will do together. Perhaps they have found their soul mates, in each other.
A picture of Diablo and Adam sitting in the ring together, from Explosion, appears on screen for a few minutes. Before it fades out and in fades the room from the beginning of the show. Shane sits in on of the red leather chairs.
Shane: Tomorrow night Sephiroth and I face Adam and Diablo. I'm a little worried. Not about the match, or about Sephiroth and myself. What I'm worried about is the types of things that Adam and Diablo will do to each other before and after the match. I'm not implying that they are gay, not at all. What I'm implying is that they are very disturbed and possibly unstable. I understand that it's completely their buisness if they want to rub themselves down with KY Jelly and make garbage angels at the local dump. I just don't want then to bring the types of things THEY enjoy into the ring where I and my fellow wrestlers have to work.
Shane pauses for a minute to collect his closing thoughs.
Shane: I hope you've enjoyed VH1's special look at the secret life of Adam "Accolade "Azure. You can catch the CWF evey Monday night at 8pm on you local sports channel. On Sunday, March 31, the CWF will be holding the UnHoly Alliances PPV. Until next time this is the ICWA World Champion, "Natural Wonder" Shane Jackson saying:
Drink Coke because Pepsi's for the Japanese.
Fade to black.
