| Time Stamped Tuesday, September 30th, 2003 Shane doesn't notice Sonic charging toward him with the quarter staff. As Shane finishes unwrapping the bandages from his forearms he looks up. Sonic's staff comes crashing down on Shane's shoulder. Shane: FUCK!! What was that for? Shane grabs his shoulder as a wave of pain shoots through it. Sonic: Why should I wait for you to be ready? Drew won't. As far as he's concerned the match started the second it was announced at Hardcore Warfare. Shane: You going to let me grab a weapon so I can fight back? Sonic: You were born with a pair of weapons better than anything you can find in this whole building. When you got into a fight in High School you didn't run to the janitors closet and grab a broom did you? No, you used your fists. You've got more control over your hands than you do over any weapon you can put into them. Where does your training start? With your fists. Shane pulls off his duster and tosses it aside. As he turns to face Sonic he gets jabbed, in his still taped ribs, by the end of the quarter staff. Shane reacts to the pain by quickly grabbing his ribs. Sonic: Don't do that. Don't show your opponent that he hurt you or he'll continually hit that spot. Shane quickly straightens up. Sonic, again, tries to jab Shane in the ribs. Shane grabs the staff before Sonic can land the blow. In the blink of an eye Sonic's dropped his end of the staff and charges in on Shane landing several blows before knocking Shane to the ground. Sonic: No point in holding onto a weapon I can't use. Sonic reaches a hand down to help Shane to his feet. Shane grabs Sonic's hand and simultaneously fires a shot into his jaw. The shot stuns Sonic for a second. Sonic: Good. Take every opportunity you're presented with. Sonic pulls Shane to his feet. Sonic: You can't let pain effect you. It's unavoidable in a Hardcore fight. Don't lay on the mat thinking about how much it hurt, get up and think how much more you can make your opponent hurt. It's you job to make him hurt more than you, to make him bleed more than you, to make him suffer more than you. You can't win unless his pain is greater than yours. You make it hurt so much he can't stand. Shane looks at Sonic in near disbelief. He's been out of the ring for years but I can still see why his name strikes fear into the Superstars that knew him. I would have loved to see this guy in the ring, it must have been amazing. Catching Shane completely off-guard, Sonic grabs Shane and hits a belly-to-belly suplex. Shane hits the concrete floor hard. He lays there for a second as pain shoots through his back. You can't let pain effect you. Sonic's words echoed in Shane's head. He quickly reacted by sitting up. A split second after Shane sat up Sonic's boot came stomping down on the concrete where Shane's head used to be. Sonic: Excellent. No pain, no fear, no weakness. Now......react. Shane pushes himself to his feet, facing Sonic. As Sonic takes a swing at Shane, Shane ducks out of the way and get behind Sonic. He grabs Sonci around the waist and hits a release german suplex onto the concrete floor of the gym. As Shane rolls to his feet he turns, expecting Sonic to already be standing. Instead Sonic is laying on the ground. As Shane looks at him Sonic begins laughing. Sonic: He...he.....he...... is that it? Is that all you're going to do? Showing no signs that the move hurt in the slightest Sonic nips up to his feet. Sonic: If you believed that was supposed to hurt then you've got a long road ahead of you. Sonic runs a hand over his chest. Shane looks in astonishment, he never noticed before but scars cover Sonic's upper body like a shirt, it's like a road map to some strange, unholy city. Sonic: My medallions. I wear them like a soldier would wear the Medal of Honor. They're something to be proud of. You won't escape the House of Horrors without a few of your own. You're disappointing me Shane, I was hoping I would have had another scar by now. Shane charges at Sonic and connects with a spear that takes both men to the ground.
