The blue atmosphere. Clouds are suspended above the earth, floating endlessley. The wind pushes them across the sky, forever.
A house. Though it's large, it's not a mansion. Two stories, on 20 acres of land. It's solid brick, not brick veneer. It has a modern look. In the driveway sit two different vehicles. A 2001 GMC Truck, and a '68 Dodge Charger. The truck is dark green. There are numerous designs and symbols airbrushed on it. The most noticable is 'ICWA' printed across the hood. The Dodge Charger is much simpler. It's an exact replica of the one from, the Steve McQueen movie, 'Bullit'.
In his livingroom, in his Cleveland home, sits Shane Jackson. He sits on a grey, leather couch. He's dressed in Doc Martin boots, and a pair of blue chords. His black, polyester, shirt is open at the front. On the shirt are some of his many different catch phrases, all printed in orange. Laying over his lap is the ICWA World Title.
Sitting across from Shane is CWF Interviewer, Jonathan Thomas.
JT: I'm here with ICWA Champion, the "Natural Wonder" Shane Jackson.
Shane: That's WORLD Champion, Jonathan.
JT: Uh, right. ICWA WORLD Champion, Shane Jackson. First off I want to thank you for granting me this interview. I know you are very selective about reporters and interviewers, and I.....
Shane: If you want to keep interviewing me then stop sucking up and get to the first question.
JT: Alright. Shane, you are set to defend your ICWA belt against Adam 'Accolade' Azure at UnHoly Alliance. What are your chances of winning?
Shane: JT, why are you giving me this loaded question? You know what I'm going to say. It'll be something like, "Adam Azure doesn't have the skill and ability to beat me. He's barely got enough class to show up an earthworm, let alone the longest reigning ICWA World Champion."
JT: Uh, sorry. Maybe you would like to tell the viewers how you plan to beat Adam this Sunday.
Shane: No, no I won't tell them how I plan to beat Adam. I'm not trying to stiff the fans, or screw the public, but how smart of me would it be to give away my game plan? Seriously, JT, come up with some better material.
JT: What do you think of the current situation in the CWF?
Shane: Situation? WHAT situation? The only situation I see is Shane Jackson vs. Adam Azure.
JT: What I mean is KOA, Pitch Black, the break of Rated R, the injection of new talent, and the Road to a Unified Title.
Shane: Is there even a question in there? You know what JT, I think I'm done speaking with you. I'm conducting the rest of this interview MYSELF.
JT: But you.....
Shane: Quiet. Open your mouth again and I'll throw you out on my front lawn. You had a chance to ask me the questions everyone wanted to know. You screwed up, so deal with it.
JT looks back at Shane. He knew he had to be careful how he approached Shane. The "Natural Wonder" has the ability to easily turn the tables on someone trying to attack him. He does it all the time in his promos. His personality allows him to say and do many things that others stay away from. JT screwed up, now he has to watch the consequences of his failure.
Shane: I sit here, in Cleveland. I'm waiting for Sunday. Sunday in Cincinatti. Ohio is hosting UnHoly Alliances, and I'm the main attraction. It's not going to be any other way. You come to MY state! You come to MY origin! Everywhere you go, and everyone you see is a fan of mine. Every room you enter, every resturaunt you eat at, every arena you showcase is full of MY fans. They know me, they grew up with me. I've got home field advantage, but it's not like I need it.
JT sits, wallowing in his own failure. He watches as Shane does what he's good at.
Shane: Azure, you are, to date, one of the toughest opponents I have ever faced. I have been training my hardest. I have spent uncountable hours in the gym and in the ring. I'm going out there on Sunday and I'm going to win. I won't sugar coat it. I'm not going to dance around the issue, or hint at it. I'm going to state it. I will win, that's IT.
JT starts shifting around in his chair. He knows the spotlight is on Shane. He brought the spotlight to him and, almost willingly, handed it over.
Shane: If Azure wants to play his Ace, then he can go right ahead. If he wants Diablo to help him then I say go for it. Just remember this, Diablo interfearing means that Adam can't beat me on his own. I'm one of the best in the CWF. Adam claims he IS the best. The best doesn't need a buddy to save the day for him. This isn't Vietnam, you don't rely on everyone in your unit to survive. You rely on yourself.
Shane stands up, off the couch. He raises the ICWA World Title up, to eye level, with his left hand.
Shane: Tomorrow we will see who gets to walk the road to a unified title. I've got my walking shoes on, Adam. I'm ready. Sunday is going to be another day in the "Year of the Natural Wonder". It's my year, it's my time, and soon, it will be MY Unified Title.
Shane walks away leaving Jonathan Thomas sitting in the living room.
