The Chill - 1/20/02

The management, staff and stars of the CWF are gathered around a 32" TV set in the main lockerroom of the Charlotte Coliseum. Everyone is glued to the set, their attention not wavering in the least. Their eyes locked on every movement on the screen. On the set Adam Azure, Bob Decot and Guardian are battling for the CWF World Title. There is silence as the events play out to the wrestlers and fans across the world.

"Natural Wonder" Shane Jackson sits in the lockerroom. He's changing out of his ring attire and putting on a fresh pair of clothes. His important, yet easy, victory over Sebastian has helped to push him further up the ranks of the CWF. With every win the "Natural Wonder" gains more fans and more recognition. It's only a matter of time before he's standing atop the upper ranks of the CWF Roster.

On the television Guardian has just handcuffed Bob Decot to the ropes. The roster gasps as they watch Azure, Guardian and Rueffio pummel Decot with steel chairs. The Champion hangs by his cuffed wrist as blood streams down his face and chest. The three men continue to beat away on the helpless Decot. Finally, in what seems like a move of compassion, Rueffio unlocks Bob from the metal bracelet. Decot drops, heavy, to the mat. With little hesitation Guardian picks up the bloodstaind Champ and hits him with his finisher, the "Graveyard Shift". Guardian covers the prone Decot as Rueffio whispers to Azure.

As Guardian is crowned the new CWF World Champion the lockerroom quickly fills with anger and hatred. The direction that the CWF has now taken is far from what many had invisioned. Even John Miller, the only man present with a controlling power, is looking at things differently.

On the TV Moe is shouting:

This is sick! I can't believe what just happened! The prestige of the Cwf World title just hit rock bottom. We might as well join the WWF now cause our belt has just become LESS Valuable than that!

As these words run through the lockerroom Shane looks up from where he sits. There's a smile on his face. He stands from his seat, picks up the dufflebag his ring clothes are in and slings the ICWA World Title over his left shoulder. As he leaves room and the arena he still smiles. He thinks to himself: It's happend. Finally! The ICWA World Title is where it belongs, above the CWF Title. In the time it took to count to 3 the whole face of the CWF changed.

Monday 6:55am the dining area of the hotel - 01/21/02

The camera spots Travis Smith and Shane Jackson enjoying some breakfast and discussing what is going on in the world.

TS: Man I can’t believe they didn’t have Smore Pop-Tarts.

SJ: It sucks and here we are enjoying these damm raspberry ones.

TS: Dammit! I hate these things but what I truly hate more is that John thinks that I still need his help in my matches. Now that just pisses me off!

SJ: Yeah but maybe he has something else on his mind.

TS: Maybe but with John you just never know. I mean maybe he has finally woken up and realized that he needs me more than I need him.

SJ: Maybe but hey man I need to get to the airport and get home so I’ll talk to ya later.

TS: Yeah see ya later man!

Shane stands up and walks off into the lobby. Everything he has is arleady packed and waiting on a cart for him. A bellboy pushes it out to the front of the hotel for him and loads it into a waiting cab. Shane climbs in and heads straight to the airport to catch his flight home.

Tuesday - 01/22/02

Shane spends the day conducting various interviews, throught Ohio, in conjunction with his win at "The Chill"

Wednesday - 01/23/02

Again, Shane spends the majority of the day doing interviews and radio spots, this time localized in Cleveland.

"The Accolade" Adam Azure's book "The CWF For Dummies" is released. The media pays little attention to it.

Thursday - 01/24/02 (morning)

Shane does a satellite interview on Good Morning America. Most of the interview deals with the CWF in general. "The Chill" is mentioned as well as Shane's upcoming match with Red Tank on Monday.

Thursday - 01/24/02 (afternoon)

Shane stands on the closed set of a commercial he's shooting for Coca-Cola. He's dressed in a pair of khaki dockers with Doc Martin boots on his feet. His upper body wears an open faced silver shirt. His hair is gelled up, he wears no sunglasses. Over his left shoulder hangs the ICWA World Title, over the right is the Stable Title. On a table, a few feet away, sits the 3 other members of Shane's stable.

The Director yells for quiet on the set, then he que's Shane to start.

Shane stands with his arms on his hips as the titles hang from his shoulders.

Shane: As the only Megastar of the CWF many people see me as a source of idolization. You...

Shane points to the camera with his right hand.

...my fans cheer for ME everytime I step into the ring.

Shane points to himself.

I am the "Natural Wonder" Shane Jackson and I am the 2x ICWA World Champion. As a champion I enjoy the Classic taste of Coke. Why? Because Coca-Cola is a proud sponsor of Critical Mass. If it's endorsed by ME then it's gotta be good.

A man off camera hands Shane a Coke. Shane cracks is open and takes a long chug of it as the picture fades out and the Coke logo appears.

The Director yells cut as Shane continues to chug the coke.

Director: Excellent job Mr. Jackson. We have to set up for the next commercial so you might as well take a break.

Through water eyes Shane passes the Coke off to someone on the crew, then he heads over to a nearby chair. As Shane sits in the chair, with both titles sitting on his lap, the Executive Producer walks over to him. He carries a copy of "The Accolade's" Dummies book.

EP: Man! I can't believe I'm meeting you.

Shane: You a fan?

EP: Of Azure. I can't believe I'm meeting the man he's marked as a target. Wow!

Shane stands out of his chair. He tosses his titles over his shoulders.

Shane: Do you understand why he's marked me? He thinks that what I hold is worthless. That MY Title shouldn't exist. He's jealous that I have something of value, something that has a legacy. The Universal Title has no meaning, no history, no future. "The Accolade" wants to see his name beside something that people will recognise him for.

EP: He's already the greatest wrestler in the CWF, ever!

Shaking his head in disgust, Shane gives his view.

Shane: He's good. Period. Not GREAT, good. He's not classified as a Megastar, I am. He wrote a book, I have a year named after ME. He's 1x Universal Champion, I'm a 2x Stable and ICWA World Champion. Sure he won a bunch of gold before he invented himself a belt, does he have those titles now? No!

EP: Azure is going to derail the "Cleveland Express" just like he said he's going to do. I believe in Adam and I believe in his word.

Shane sighs.

Shane: Every other person in the CWF has claimed they are going to derail the Cleveland Express, what happens? Either they jump out of the way before they get hit, or they stand there and end up being rolled over. Red Tank has dropped out of sight since I last mentioned him. Which is Azure going to be?

EP: You can't beat him. You just wait.

Shane adjusts the titles on his shoulders.

Shane: In case you haven't realised it, Adam and I have something in common. We're both larger than life, too bad MY life's been a little bit better. Catch up to the times, guy, it's 2002 the "Year of the Natural Wonder". MY year.

The Director calls to Shane, letting him know that they are ready to shoot the next commercial. Shane turns away from the Executive Producer and walks back toward the set.
