When you arrive on Avalon, either by a trod, by sea, or by stepping sideways through the Umbra, you generally end up at the ocean's edge facing a large stone castle. This is Castle Twilight. The gardens and lawns that usually surround the castle are under a blanket of pure white snow and can only be imagined in their slumber. If you take the time to walk the paths drifting with snow that wind around the island you will find many wonderful surprises. There are statues and sculptures of all varieties dripping with icicles, Indian rock gardens somehow kept free of the powdered cold, frozen ponds for skating, secret waterfalls, hotsprings, and at the rear of the castle is a dense forest of oaks, birches, maples, pines, and elm trees although most are bare, their branches laden with snow.
Upon entrance to the castle through the main gates you will find yourself in a vast stone-walled room. Comfortable couches and chairs and tables of varying sizes are scattered about for patrons to sit and talk. Deep, lush carpets of burgondy cushion the cold stone floor beneath your feet. The stone walls are lined with bookcases filled with books of all subjects to suit any taste. Warm fires burns continuously in the hearths, warming the chilly place throughout the winter.
There are two heavy wooden doors leading off to the right. The kitchen lies through one, and the dining hall lies through the other, another door leads between those two rooms as well. A bar takes up most of the back wall, and a stone staircase to the left of the bar leads up to the several dozen rooms available for visitors to stay in and the twins' private study.
If you are fortunate enough to locate the hidden staircase up to the twins' rooms, you will find two doors on the last landing. The one on the right is awe-inspiring with a scene of forrests, wildflowers and magnificent beasts of the lands carved into the polished wooden surface. The door to the left is blue marble with a stunning scene of ocean waters and waterfalls in all their might with their shy inhabitants etched upon it's sleek surface.
Rosa and Nefratina have lived in this castle since their births, and they find life therin very enjoyable. They provide all the services on the island, tending to every detail themselves for their guests, but do not refuse their hospitality or they may spite you.
If you leave Castle Twilight and decide to wander the island in the cold, to the east you will find a small village inhabited by changeling commoners mostly. This village is deep within the pine forest of Avalon, and is rarely visited by outsiders (maybe the Redcap encampment just on the outskirt of the village has something to do with it...). The inhabitants are generally a cheerful bunch, besides the odd Sluagh, and will gladly take in strangers for a few nights until weather improves enough for them to return to the castle.
