After having done CanTex, I never thought I'd want to do another bordered background website. Its quite an undertaking to create one. Creating the images and the backgrounds is the easy part. Working the HTML codes for it is a different matter all together. I must admit, however, that I learned a lot while creating it.

The largest portion of the images for CanTex were, for the most part, scanned images from getwell cards that I received in 1976 while I was layed up in the hospital for 9 weeks as a result of a car accident. The images found here, on this site, were created using the Corel PhotoPaint8 program. Thus, all the images are abstractions by nature. Primarily, it all started as an experiment in color and effects manipulation. Just playing around with the different effects to see what they would do. I've looked at many different bordered background sites on the Internet. I noticed that most people who display their creativity in this forum, use Adobe PhotoShop. I have worked with both programs; and while Adobe's PhotoShop offers some effects that Corel's PhotoPaint does not, I still prefer Corel. I suppose it boils down to a matter of choice and what one learns over time and with practice.

Some of the images here, look somewhat "gaudy." And, depending on what color and resolution settings any given computer has, the colors on some of the backgrounds may seem a bit hideous. I suppose that is one of the drawbacks of Corel. The colors look fine in Corel, but when applied on the Internet, they take on a whole different perspective.

If you find any bordered backgrounds on this site that you would like to use, here are the codes you will need:

<BODY BACKGROUND="image filename here">
<TABLE>
<TR><TD VALIGN=LEFT ALIGN=TOP>
<IMG SRC="vspacer.gif" width=135 height=1 ALT="IMAGES">
</TD>
<TD VALIGN=LEFT ALIGN=TOP WIDTH=100%>
....Your page content....
</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</BODY>

The borders offered here have a wide range of width sizes. I tried to keep them near the 130 pixel width size, but in some cases, it just didn't happen. I don't think any of them are over 160 pixels wide. The value of the vspacer will need to be adjusted accordingly.

To set up your web page so that text and graphics don't overlap the border, you should use a table of 100% width. You can download vspacer.gif (this is a zipped transparent gif image).

Each page has 10 images, please give them time to load. Also, the thumbnail images may seem to be a bit skewed due to compression. When you view the full page, they will be in true form.
