My chat with Lanna:

me: Ok on 2/5 I feel sick and out of breath
me: and congested

me: so I think uh oh this could be pneumonia again
me: so I head to the warren Clinic
me: and they do a blood count and it is normal
me: 10900
me: or 10000 something
me: anyway
me: they give me allegra and advair and albuterol inhaler and send me on my way
Lanna: aight
me: fast forward to 2/9
me: Lars and Zaph come to Stillwater to visit
me: earlier that day
me: I find a ping pong ball sized lump in my groin on the right side
me: I assume it is a boil
me: and that the reason I feel like crap is that I am congested and kinda weezing
Lanna: k
me: I have dinner with Lars and Zaph and feel like crap and head home with Leslie
me: that night I have shakes and chills and my temp ranges from 97.1 to 101.7
me: within hours
Lanna: greeaaat
me: I think I have a fever
me: since the temp got so high and I have shakes and chills
me: well from about 9 to 2am this goes on
me: and then it stops
me: and im like
me: woo it broke
me: im good
me: I fall asleep and goto work
me: on 2/10 I tell people man I had a shitty night
me: bleh
me: glad it is over
me: that night I have shakes and chills even worse
me: and the 'boil' is now the size of a lemon
Lanna: eew
me: and it is deep under my skin
me: and very tender
me: any I decide this sucks and I will goto doc on wednesday
me: and say I am getting worse
me: and the stuff from last thursday isn't helping
me: so I go in on wed morning
me: the lump is now softball sized in volume and hurts pretty bad
me: they do a chest x-ray
me: blood count 19000 this time (normal is like 4000-10900)
me: and decide that while the lump is huge it isn't really a boil
me: it is like a deep tissue infectiojn
me: so they prescribe antibiotics
Lanna: ick
me: a cream
me: and give me a shot in the hip of rocephin
me: and tell me to come back tomorrow to see how im doing
me: I go home
me: and have shakes and chills again
me: temp gets to 102.8
me: and the lump is now as long as a banana and as much volume as a football
me: and is spreading into my scrotum
me: so thursday I go in and am just dying of pain
me: leslie has to drive me
me: and they do another blood count 19000 again
me: the antibiotics have done NOTHING
me: but they have stopped it from climbing
me: so that is a plus
me: they notice it has increased in size
me: and give me painkillers
me: and another shot of rocephin in my hip
Lanna: lol bout time
me: and send me home
me: tell me to come back friday
me: so all thursday i take 1 pill of hydrocodein every 2 hours
me: and that almost isn't enough
me: so Friday I go in
me: and at this point the lump goes from the begining of my ass cheek to the top of my groin below where my belly stars

me: and my scrotum is the size of a grape fruit
me: needless to say i am in the worst pain of my entire life
me: each movement makes me want to throw up
Lanna: giving birth soon?
me: lol I wish
me: I looked like the damn elephantitis pictures from National Geographic
me: anyway
me: I go in on friday
me: blood count is 18800
me: it had gone down...200
me: yay
me: I had shakes the night before and a fever of 102
me: so I was still kinda pissed off
me: besides the fact that my whole body was sore from shaking so much
me: it was like a full body muscle spasm

me: and my head was throbbing from basically head banging for 72 hours
me: on and off
me: they look at the lump
me: and get a doctor in
me: who calls another doctor
me: who says
me: son you are going to the hospital
me: we have done everything we can from the clinic
me: you need much more serious help
me: so that friday afternoon I check into stillwater medical center
me: from friday to last thursday I am on IV antibiotics
me: round the clock
Lanna: damn
me: till they switched me to oral antibiotics on thursday
me: and I was discharged friday (2/20)
me: they put a heating pad on my groin on friday (2/13)
me: to 'help the antibiotics work their way in'
me: but really it was the old
me: apply heat and watch stuff expand
me: so my skin busts open
me: and I drained
me: the funny thing was my whole family was in the room
me: and I thought I was sweaty
Lanna: lol
me: because for the last week I had been sweating like a bitch
me: so having a wet bed isn't a big deal
me: anyway I was like ok who the fuck farted
me: damn it stinks
me: some one own up to that
me: and everyone thought it was my dad
Lanna: well
me: till I lift up the sheets and realize it was me
Lanna: he's a pretty good suspect
me: and then I was like OMG
me: I shit myself
me: OMG
me: im so fucked up
me: so I ask my family to leave
me: and I call the nurses
me: and when I stand up out of the bed tons of blood just comes out on the floor and sheets and everything
me: needless to say
Lanna: damn
me: when I see that much blood I am like ooooh fuck this isn't good
me: and think 2 thoughts
me: 1. I know what women feel like when they have their first period
me: 2. I would not be suprised to see my unborn twin pop out of there
Lanna: lol it't not that gushy
Lanna: lol
me: so I rush to the bathroom to because I still think I shit myself
me: but really Im just bleeding a ton
me: and I mess up my hospital room
me: anyway they get me a bandage and like flat pads to absorb stuff on the bed
me: and I shower and get back in bed and on the iv again
me: but after that I had no more pain
me: which is good
Lanna: yes
me: freaky as hell and stinky but good
me: I had an ultrasound on monday
me: to see if they could find a core of the infection
me: but they didn't
me: it was just a system wide deal
me: they took a culture from my leg saturday morning
me: and it never grew anything
me: so they still have no idea what bug I was aflicted with and how I got it
me: but anyway i am better now
Lanna: that's lovely
me: and 20 pounds lighter
me: lol
Lanna: glad you are better though

me: I find out that 20-30 years ago
me: I would have most likely been dead

me: and that my blood count when I checked in on Friday was 20000

me: where you entire blood stream is infected
Lanna: well glad you are feeling better and not dead
