My chat with Katy
Katy: Heya... I think this is your calculator over here... I still think it's grey, but Jeremy says it's more blue than grey... so I guess it's guy-blue. :P
me: lol I can come by and look at it
me: it is blue like a smurf though
Katy: it isn't quite that blue... wanna calculator? :)
me: lol
me: whats been up with you guys?
Katy: Eh, stuff... problems with insurance people, and difficulty in finding a lawyer, stuff.
me: lawyer for what?
Katy: To scare the insurance people into paying their bills mostly... also to mediate in the permanent disability settlement coming up soon
Katy: I am most unhappy with my "level of recovery"
me: :(
me: what is going on ? your wrist never healed?
Katy: But the insurance people think it's high enough to clear them of responsibility... never mind that I can't ever work my old job again...
Katy: Yeah, pretty much
me: it just hurts or lack or motion?
Katy: It's as good as it's going to get, but isn't anywhere near normal
Katy: Both
me: doh
Katy: I only have about half motion in my right wrist
Katy: So I'm all grumpy and stuff. :P
Katy: Jeremy passed! Well, ok, I've only seen grades for three out of four classes, but he got all B's
me: :(
me: cool
Katy: He starts classes again in a couple of weeks, and he'll be working in the lab until then... so yesterday and today he's sleeping and staring at the wall
me: lol
me: what about you when do you start classes :P
Katy: I dunno... I've pretty much given up on school for another year because of this hassle with the insurance people... if I leave Papa John's, or if it even *looks* like I'm leaving PJ's, I'll loose any benefits I'm entitled to
me: :(
me: did you ever figure out what caused your wrists to get hurt in the first place?
Katy: But the instant all this crap is settled, ifI can't immediately enroll, I'm going to try for a job without heavy lifting. :P
Katy: Yes, it was basically all the rotating and pressure... cutting pizza, using that huge monstrosity of a can opener, balancing twenty pounds on one hand and rotating it, etc.
Katy: Putting pressure on my wrist while at any kind of an angle
me: doh
Katy: And the carpal tunnel... I have no idea. I think I'm pre-disposed to it, and all the repetitions of angle/pressure brought it all together
Katy: I think I'm mostly pissed about getting a lifelong handicap from a *pizza* *shack*
me: lol
me: at least it isn't something like a lost finger or leg
Katy: True
me: so if you use your hand at all you are in pain?
me: or just if you move past that limited range of motion
Katy: Yup... I have trouble with a full cup of coffee...
me: :((
Katy: Just moving my hand can hurt, but if I've done some limbering up I can generally get away with it...
Katy: But even a few ounces of weight hurt
me: do you think you would have been better off without the surgury?
Katy: Y'know, I don't know....
Katy: I had better range of motion before the surgery, and a lot less pain... but if I hadn't had surgery it would have gotten worse...
Katy: How much worse, I don't really know
me: could it just be the scar tissue from the surgury?
me: surgery
me: lol
Katy: If the tear had widened, I might have severed something really improtant, or otherwise lost control of it
Katy: Maybe... it kinda feels like bits that used to move independantly have been welded together. :)
Katy: *sigh* I can't spell today
me: I know that when I busted my wrist it hurt for awhile afterwards but eventually it lessens until it only hurts if I lean on it wrong or use it funkily
me: has it the pain been steady since the operation
Katy: Well, it's been four and a half months since the surgery, and the Dr says that this is as good as it gets...
me: I would be like sever the pain nerves biatch!
Katy: It has gone *way* down since the surgery... but it levelled out three months ago and has stayed the same
Katy: lol
me: that is just crazy
Katy: Oh! I cut my hair all off, too
me: how short?
me: like sinead?
Katy: As short as it was in TUlsa... I don't think anyone here has seen it this short... not quite bald. :P
Katy: Much easier to take care of than that shoulder lenght crap... I should have done it months ago
Katy: length
Katy: Like on my license
me: lol yeah I remember from you pictures
me: yeah short hair is much easier to deal with
Katy: When we have money again, I think I'll dye it green, too
Katy: I miss green hair
me: green?
Katy: Yep. Well, maybe lavender...
Katy: I like lavender, too
Katy: Eh, dye is cheap, and punky colors washes out... I'll do both
Katy: Maybe at the same time... right side green, left side lavender
me: !
me: Punk hair
Katy: It'll go right along with my nose ring
