Migel / Miguel
Migel is a tall slayer with brown hair and long sharp bangs.
Migel is one of the most observant and intelligent of Dilandau's
Dragon Slayers. However, his strong loyalty to Dilandau interferes with
any common sense he may have and this proves fatal to him in the end.
Here we first get to observe Migel in battle:
Dilandau:(spots Escaflowne in the woods.) "That's it."
The Dragon Slayers attack in Stealth mode. Hitomi helps Van dodge.
Dilandau:(to Chesta) "What are you doing? You keep missing."
Chesta: "I aimed at it but.."
Migel: "It seems that it can see us."
Dilandau: "Stop talking nonsense! Just hit it as much as you
need to but leave him alive."
*Migel, sane of mind and thought, can clearly see that Van can
spot the guymelefs in stealth mode. However, Dilandau refuses to
believe this. Van leads them into the water and attacks Migel's
guymelef, slicing off its right arm with one swipe.
Migel:"AHHHH!!!"
Van punches Migel's melef's head in. Migel yells and shakily tries to
retreat. His melef crashes backwards onto the shore and steams out of commission
Dilandau:"Migel!"
Dilandau is ordered to head back to the fortress by Folken. He and the other
slayers retreat leaving Migel behind.
*Dilandau to Folken about the matter..
Dilandau:"Don't worry. Migel's one of my men. He won't talk even if he
has to die."
Zongi, the deceptant in Plactu the monk's form, to Migel who's imprisoned in Freid.
Zongi:"You're Migel aren't you?"
Migel:"How did you know my name??" (then catches on quickly)"Ah! You're on an
errand for Folken aren't you?"
And..... Zongi: "Mysterious girl?"
Migel:"Yes, she clearly pointed at my guymelef which was supposed to be invisible."
Zongi:"I see. I'll deal with that matter."
Migel:(leans forward) "Free me first!"
Zongi:"No. You have another job to do." (uses Placu's influence on Migel.)
*Migel being questioned by a Freid loyal..
"So soldier of Zaibach, What is your name?"
Migel:(eyes wide under Zongi/Plactu's influence) "Migel. Migel Labariel."
"What were you doing on the border?"
Migel:"I was hunting a traitor at Asturia's request."
"Traitor? Who is it?"
Migel:"He conspired with the King of Fanelia to betray the country. Allen Schezar.
"It can't be! Don't lie to us!"
Migel:"I am not lying"
"Then why did Allen hand you over to us?"
Migel:"I was told to lie and then he'd rescue me."
"Lie?"
Migel:"To decieve Freid into engaging in a war against Asturia.
And taking advantage of the disorder he'd take over Asturia."
Prince Cid: "He's lying! That's a lie!!"
*Migel was used by Zongi to carry out Folken's plan. However, Zongi
still freed Migel after he was done using him. Migel punches out a
guard and looks to his guymelef. "It's still functional!"
He breaks out of the building in his melef and smiles. "Alright,
I can go. The Manteaux still works as well." Punches out the building's
roof. Zongi observing from above:"How pointless. He should just escape."
Migel:(sees Escaflowne) "Nani?!"
Van attacks. Migel tries to attack with his melef claw but it freezes up.
"The pressure is too low! Damn!" (Uses the Stealth Manteaux.)
Van:"No you don't!"
Migel:(again observant)"As I thought. You can't see through the Stealth Manteaux
without that girl can you?" Migel smiles. Watches Van concentrate. "What's he doing?
I don't care. If I destroy it Master Dilandau will forgive me for being captured.
If I concentrate the liquid metal in one launcher I can hit it."
Van:"Behind me!"
Migel:"Die!!!" Launches the claw. Van blocks.
Migel:(worried) "H-how??"
Van cuts Migel's melef down. Migel crawls out and limps away toward an alley.
Migel:(holding his torn and bleeding leg) "I can't escape with this injury..
What should I do?" Zongi grabs Migel's neck from behind and crushes it killing Migel.
Zongi:(casual. Staring down at Migel's limp body.) Sorry, But my presence cannot be disclosed.
*If Migel used common sense he could've easily escaped Freid and still be alive. However,
his loyalty to Dilandau clouded his judgement and unfortunately he ended up being killed by
one of his own allies.
