PYPS

WHAT PYPS IS

PYPS, Presbyterian Young Person's Society, is a non profit youth-run organization for young people aged 14 to 25. Each Synod, such as Southwestern Ontario, Toronto-Kingston, or Eastern Ontario-Quebec, has its own PYPS organization. This page belongs to the Synod of South Western Ontario, which extends from Windser to Hamilton, and north to Owen Sound, including London and Sarnia. PYPS is a way to learn about God in an informal setting, through theme speakers, worship, singing, and fellowship. There are also games, fun activities, workshops, and usually there is a dance. Accomodations for events vary according to where it is held. While at Camp Kintail we stay in cabins on site, and when events are held in churches, we are either billeted or we stay at the church. The four main events for our synod are Fall Rally, formrly Labour Day Camp, on Labour day weekend, Leadership, which has been held in November for the last four years, Winter camp, held in February, and May Camp, on Victoria Day weekend.

EVENTS

Fall Rally and May Camp are both held at Camp Kintail, and Leadership and Winter Camp are held at churches in different presbytries every year. The two most important events of the year are Fall Rally and May Camp. At these events are a semi-annual meeting, Fall Session and Spring Session. At these meetings, any important changes to PYPS are discussed and voted upon, reports are given for upcoming events, and elections are held for the next year's committees. At the Spring Session, elections are also held for the next year's executive, and at Fall Session, it is decided where the money from our Mission Pot will go for the next year. Also at Fall Rally, the new executive takes over.
