The 338/06 I do believe picks up where the 06 left off Frank, I do think you will enjoy the cartridge. Hand Loading is no problem, brass is everywhere to be had.

I like the Barnes reloading manual and there bullets, nosler's partitions are ok to in my book too! Barnes gives YOU 7 different bullets to chose from in there manual. a 160,175,185bt,200,210bt,225,250.

I use the 185bt on thin skinned animals, velocity is around 2800fps. The 250 grain bullets are pushed out of my 24" barrel at 2420fps, sectional density is a Whopping .313 for Deep Penetration. I might say, they work very well on moose. Frank, I have not tried the other bullets offered, I felt these would suit my needs just fine. To me this cartridge is a real hunters dream. I have other rifles, but really I don't need them, not for hunting medium, and large game.
