Shootfighting:
Shootfighting is a Japanese art that combines the elements of wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and Judo. It's a complete system that is combat based. Practitioners are allowed to strike with fists, feet and knees, standing AND on the ground. All Throws, joint locks and chokes are allowed as well
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu:
Style made famous by the Gracie family of Brazil. This Technical art is practiced with a gi on. Generally no strikes are allowed, but all throws, joint-locks, and chokes are allowed-and encouraged!
Muay Thai Boxing:
This devastating form of Kickboxing is the national sport of Thailand. Thai fighters are allowed to strike using shins, feet, hands, elbows and knees; to any target, especially lower body of their opponents. Throws and Clinches are also allowed.
Grappling:
Any art that utilizes primarily groundwork can be referred to as "Grappling". This includes (but isn't limited to): Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Submission Wrestling.
Grappling Tournaments:
Grappling tournaments, like the ones referred to on my page, are non-striking, grappling only competitions. These timed matches can be either, round-robin or single elimination format. You can win by scoring more points, or by submission (tap-out) of your opponent. Points are scored by manouvering yourself into dominant positions
on your opponent, and for passing his defenses. Submissions are surrenders by tapout when a competitor is trapped by a lock or choke that he cannot escape, and is causing him pain.
