Freefall

Inspired by the beauty and solitude of Bent Mountain, Virginia, Elaine enjoys the challenge of coming up with the "next new idea". The colors and shapes in her immediate surroundings provide inspiration, giving her many ideas to work with. She feels most at home working with geometric patterns that require only a ruler and graph paper and no drawing skills. In designing and constructing a quilt she finds opportunities in decision making, problem solving and the creation of something individual - an evolving process that grows with each new challenge. Teaching and lecturing are favorite activities, but when the opportunity arises to learn a new technique and again become the student, she's the first in line.
