 Artist's Statement

Quilt Artist Ann Reardon has been working in this medium for eight years. She creates wall quilts and wearable art.

Her work is greatly influenced by her love and knowledge of ethnic textile designs. These design and color combinations help make her work unique. While living in Africa and Asia she was able to see the textiles and the people who wore and created them up close and personal. She believes this gives her art work the soul each piece deserves.

After returning to the U.S. she was a docent at the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. during this five year period she focused on the African discipline and participated in the creation of a children's program on African textiles.

In a desire to interest others in ethnic textile designs she has assembled a lecture slide show which is fun and informative. It emphasizes pieced and quilted items dating back to the second century B.C. She also has a modest collection of textiles for everyone to enjoy and to see some of the techniques used to create these ancient treasures.
