THE CONCERTS
How many people can say that they have experienced over 60% of their top 20 songs performed live in concert? It's pretty exciting to admit I am one of those people!
I have been to many concerts in my life. I love a live show if the sound is quality and the performer interacts with the audience.
Stage presence, sound and lights are the important factors to make the concert great!! And, it is always memorable when the performance includes one of your favourite songs!
~ My First Concert ~
The first concert I ever attended was The Bay City Rollers !! I was 13 years old and an enthusiastic fan! I lost my voice within the first 10 minutes due to (ahem!) screaming!! I was dressed in tartan-cuffed denim jeans and a white t-shirt (a must!). Suspenders decorated with BCRollers pins and buttons was a crucial accessory. Without it, you just weren't cool.
Best songs: Saturday Night, Dedication, Rock'n'Roll Love Letter
Forever etched in my mind is the chant: "We Want The Rollers..." over and over and over....LOL
~ The Early Concerts ~
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN Free outdoor concert in 1973 (Big song: Please Mr. Please)
MAX WEBSTER featuring Kim Mitchell !! (Canadian) A Million Vacations Tour...Kim Mitchell was awesome even then ! {1978}
TROOPER (Canadian!) Stood on my chair and sang "The Boys In The Bright White Sports Car". {Sept.19, 1979}
KENNY ROGERS The Gatlin Brothers were the back-up band! Kenny drove all the ladies to tears with "Lady". My step-mother wanted me to go, sooooo, I went. LOL {Dec.4, 1982)
LOVERBOY (Canadian!) Mike Reno was HOT! Yes, I had a red headband! hahaha Best songs: Turn Me Loose, Workin' For The Weekend {Aug 24, 1983}
CHRIS DEBURGH One of my favourite performers in concert. Chris DeBurgh has the most hauntingly beautiful voice I have ever heard. He has fun with the fans and keeps the energy high. I have attended Chris DeBurgh three times in concert. {Jul 1984, May 1987, Sept 1996}
BEATLEMANIA-THE CONCERT Beatles impersonators really looked and sounded like the real thing! {Aug. 24, 1984}
BRYAN ADAMS (Canadian!) What can I say about the enormous popularity of Bryan? He is the ultimate entertainer. He rocks! I have attended Bryan's concerts 6 times !! {Jan & Sept 1985, Jul 1987, Jan & Aug 1992, Jan 1996}
FOREIGNER A huge inflatable jukebox was erected for this show. (Guess which song?) Joe Walsh was the guest performer...Life's Been Good! {Aug. 24, 1985}
SUPERTRAMP The most disappointing show I have ever attended. Without Roger Hodgson, I could not enjoy the concert. {Oct. 19, 1985}
~ The Pop & Rock Years ~
Kool and The Gang Juice Newton Huey Lewis & The News Whitney Houston Billy Joel Rock and Hyde (Canadian!) Gowan/Glass Tiger (Canadian!) David Bowie David Lee Roth Aerosmith (Jan 90, Jul 97) Colin James (Canadian!) Def Leppard Hootie & The Blowfish Blue Rodeo (Canadian!!) Elton John Neil Diamond
~ Most Recent Concerts ~
SHANIA TWAIN (Canadian!) In my opinion, Shania is the best female performer of all time. She loves her audience and has a very entertaining show. She is beautiful and has such talent! I was fortunate to see her show both nights she was in town. FIVE STARS FOR SHANIA!!! {Mar. 17 & 18, 1999}
ROD STEWART Lots of energy left in Rod, but he forgot to sing LOVE TOUCH...LOL. {Mar 27, 1999}
CELINE DION (Canadian!) Celine has such power behind her voice, she made me cry. I admit it!!! My Heart Will Go On was incredible, complete with the bow of the Titanic erected onto the stage. {Sept 1999}
