Blue Steele Highlights

"One Step Closer To The Blues" has already sold almost One Million copies! Actually, that's not true. However, they ARE selling like hot cakes... But, actually, we are still working on our first 1,000.  Let's see. If we sell all of those, that would mean the disc has gone... Steel?

Some good news on the publishing front.  Jim and Joe have been offered a publishing contract for the CD's hit single "Who Was That Man?" That is pretty exciting news. That's the song about the guy that gets drunk, proposes to his girl, and then decides to pretend he never said it. It wasn't me!! Many fans have suggested that we should have put it on a CD called"Calypso Honky Tonk Blues" instead of a blues CD. Nevertheless...somebody out there likes it. Now we just hope they can sell it!!

We were voted Honorable Mention Best Blues Band in Music Monthly's 1996 Music Poll. Ernie Steele also received an Honorable Mention in the Best Instrumentalist (Harmonica) category.

In 1995, we went to the finals of the Fleetwoods/Tower Records Blues Contest held at the Taste of DC in Washington, DC.

We released our first full-length recording. The 12-song cassette/CD, entitled "Hot Wired!" features 2 originals along with 10 classics.

Blue Steele has appeared on stage with Clarence "Strokin" Carter (at Fort Dupont Park), the late local great Eva Cassidy (at the Columbia Festival of the Arts), and also many great local artists.

We have rocked the blues at Potomac Overlook Park , Veteran’s Park and Willow Garden Theater in Bethesda, Kughn Park in Silver Spring, Laurel's "Lawn Chair Concerts", Centennial Park in Columbia, The Baltimore Blues Festival, L'Enfant Plaza, King's Contrivance, Church Cove Park in St. Michael's, Crystal City Water Park, Glen Burnie Concerts and Columbia Festival of the Arts.

Clubs that we play at regularly include The Ebb Tide (Annapolis), The Dead Eye Saloon, Harry’s Club International,Cafe Tattoo and 13th Floor (Baltimore), Cacao Lane (Ellicott City), Junction Station Cafe (Catonsville), The Bullevard (Lexington Park), Irish Pizza Pub (Laurel), JV’s (Falls Church), Michael’s Pub (Columbia). Hot Wired Tour t-shirts are available. The pre-washed 100% cotton shirt features the same snazzy four color artwork found on our WEB site.
