We
are fishing the Pacific Ocean off the northern coast of
Panama. This area consists of many tropical islands
including Coiba, Montusa, Jicron, Ladrones, and the
Contreas. It is also home of the world famous Hannibal Bank
which is recognized as the prime spot in the world to catch
a black marlin from December through April.
Species
Available
Offshore fishing can produce blue marlin, black marlin,
pacific sailfish, yellowfin tuna, dorado, and
wahoo.
Fishing Methods:
Live Bait
Slow trolling live bonita is deadly on marlin and tuna.
We use bait and switch with live bait to match the tackle to
the fish and increase our hook-up ratios. The use of circle
hooks has been implemented to reduce fish
mortality.
Rigged
Natural Dead Baits
Captains Travis "Roberto" Peterson and Chi Chi Gonzalas
are both excellent bait riggers. Their natural baits fish
beautifully and are very productive.
Trolling Artificial
Lures
This is an area where we really shine. We have an
arsenal of proven big game fishing lures that are simply not
found on smaller charter boats. We often troll from one
fishing area to the next and have found this to produce
strikes from all species.
Fly Fishing
Bait and switch flyfishing is the most challenging
fishing a person can do. We use two mates in the cockpit to
smoothly tease the fish in and switch over to the fly. We
also maintain a large selection of terminal fly gear.
