Sibling Rivalry

Late one night while on her way home from school Alyssa stopped by the local video store to get a couple of movies. She had been stressing over a major exam and needed to relax now that it was over she needed to relax somehow. She had been staring at the new releases for a while when one of the employees came over tto her.

"Can I help you make a selection," he asked her. She turned to him and looked him up and down. He was about an inch or two taller than her and had blonde hair and greenish blue eyes.

She smiled and said, "I know I want a movie I just can't decide on one. They all look so good."

"Well, you look like the type that would enjoy a good comedy," he said leading her over to the comedy rack. "We have plenty and it's always good to laugh."

"I could use a good laugh," she said and thanked him. She made her selections and went to the register.

"So what did you choose," he asked sneaking up on her. She showed him the tapes. "Ah History of the World and Young Frankenstein. Mel Brooks is a always good for a laugh."

Hey Hardy get back to work and stop flirting with the customers," the guy behind the register said teasingly.

"I am not flirting. I was just helping this lovely lady make a movie selection," he said. Alyssa paid for the movies and started to walk out. "Hey hang on a second." She stopped and turned to him. "My name is Jeff."

"I'm Alyssa," she said shaking his hand.

"Can I take you out to dinner sometime?" She smiled at him. It had been a year since she had been on a date. She had given up having a sex life when she started nursing school.

"Sure," she said. "Let me give you my number." She pulled a pad and paper out of her purse and jotted down her number for him. "Here you go." She handed him the paper and left the store.

When she got home Piper, her sister, was waiting for her.

"Where have you been?"

"At the video store," Alyssa responded putting her purse down and hanging her jacket up.

"You know I was expecting you home after class so I could go food shopping. I wanted you to sit with Marie."

"I'll go if you want," she offered.

"I guess that's a better solution since I am tired. You got enough money Lys," Piper asked slouching in her chair. "Oh and pick up some diapers for me too."

"I can stop at the ATM on the way. I know Marie needs more. I noticed when I changed her this afternoon." She grabbed the car keys and her purse and jacket and went to the supermarket.

She was daydreaming about Jeff when she bumped into a man with her cart. He was a few inches taller than her and had dark brown hair and brown eyes.

"I'm so sorry," she said blushing bright red.

It's ok I don't need that hip," he said rubbing it and smiling.

"I am so embarassed," she said.

"Don't be. I'll live. When you get hit with carts you kinda develop an immunity to them." She couldn't help giggling. She went about her shopping and bumped into him again in several other aisles. "Are you following me," he said the last time they met. She laughed and went picked up her last item.

At the checkout counter she was reading a magazine when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to stare into a pair of brown eyes.

"That must be some article," he said.

"Now you're following me," she said laughing.

"My name is Matt," he said offering his hand.

"Alyssa," she said shaking it. They chit chatted until she checked out and left the store. As it turned out she was parked next to him in the lot. "Now this is getting spooky. Are you a stalker," she said giggling. He laughed and helped her put the groceries in the trunk. "Thank you Matt. You didn't have to do that."

"I always help a lady," he said smiling. "Can I call you sometime Alyssa."

She pulled out her pen and paper and jotted down her number. "Sure you can. Here you go." She handed him the paper and got into her car.

"Bye Alyssa," he said getting into his car.

As she drove away she couldn't help smiling. "Two guys in one night. I guess I still got it," she thought to herself and laughed.

Alyssa went back to the video store to return the movies. When she arrived there Jeff was behind the register.

"Hey! Sorry I didn't call you last night. I got busy here and got home late."

"It's ok. I had plans with a friend so I wasn't home," she said smiling.

"Can I take you out to dinner tonight?"

"I'd like that," she said.

"I'll pick you up around 7pm."

"Great see you then." She left the store.

At 7pm Alyssa was just putting the finishing touches on her make up when the doorbell rang. She gave herself on last look in the mirror. She picked some fuzz off of her blue sweater. She had opted for the sweater with a pair of matching royal blue pants and black boots.

"Lys Jeff's here," Piper called. She could hear Marie squeal in delight. She entered the living room and saw Jeff on the floor playing with Marie. "Listen Lys, I'm going to be staying a friend's house tonight so you'll have the house to yourself."

"No problem Piper," Alyssa said. "You ready Jeff?"

"Yup," he said laughing as he handed Marie to Piper.

After dinner he took her back home. They sat on her bed watching TV for a while. She had rested her head on his shoulder as they watched MTV.

"I love this song," she said when Angels by Robbie Williams came on. She looked up into his eyes and he leaned over and kissed her softly. She straddled his lap when they broke the kiss. Soon they were stripping each other as they continued to kiss. He laid her on her back and gently slipped into her. He kissed and nibbled on her breasts as he made love to her. Soon their bodies were gripped by orgasms. They lay in each other's arms listening to the other's breathing as they drifted off to sleep.

A month later Alyssa was still seeing Matt and Jeff and neither guy knew about each other. One day Matt called.

"Hey Lys. I got this wedding to go to and I wanted to bring you."

"Sounds like fun. When is it," she asked.

"Next Sunday. Sorry for the short notice, but I just got the invitation."

"It's ok. It gives me an excuse to buy a new dress," Alyssa said laughing. "Who's getting married?"

"My crazy cousin Sheila," he said laughing. "I gotta get back to work."

"Ok. I'll talk to you later."

The next week about 2 days before the wedding Jeff called.

"Hey Lys. I got this family thing on Sunday and I'd like you to come with me."

"Oh Jeff Sunday I can't. I promised a friend that I'd go someplace with them."

"Oh ok. I'll go solo then," he said sounding disappointed. "I gotta go I'm meeting my brother in about an hour."

"Oh have fun."

Alyssa had chosen a flowing ankle length baby blue sating gown with spaghetti straps and matching shoes. Her long flowing mane of brown curls was pulled into a french twist with curls on either side of her bangs. Matt picked her up and took her to the wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony. After the ceremony they went to the reception. There she met Sheila and her new husband and a few of their childhood friends too.

She was standing with him at the bar when Matt turned and saw someone. He called out to who it was.

"Jeff come here I want you to meet someone."

She turned to see Jeff, her Jeff, standing in front of her. His jaw dropped as did hers.

"Jeff this is my girl Alyssa that I was telling you about at lunch the other day," Matt said grinning from ear to ear.

"Pleasure to meet you," Jeff said shaking out of his daze. Alyssa shook his hand playing along with him. "May I have this dance? If you don't mind Matt."

"Not at all," he said still grinning.

When they got out on the dance floor Jeff said, "When were you planning on telling me that you were seeing my brother?"

"I didn't know that you guys were brothers Jeff. I really didn't. Me and Matt never mentioned last names to each other at all."

"Ok so when were you going to tell me that you were seeing another guy behind my back?"

"Look Jeff I'm sorry. I thought we were just having fun. I didn't realize you were getting serious."

"Hey Jeff what's up," Matt asked seeing the upset expression on his face.

"Ask Alyssa," Jeff said looking away.

"What's going on," Matt asked her slightly confused.

"Matt I've been seeing Jeff for the past month," she said looking away in shame.

"You what? I thought....what about me and you? How could you date my brother behind my back."

"We did more than date," Jeff said with a snort. Matt looked at him hurt in eyes.

"Jeff you're not helping matters," Alyssa said. "I didn't know he was your brother."

"That doesn't make up for you seeing another guy behind my back."

"I know there is no excuse for that. Look I'm gonna go." She left them and took a cab home.

Later that evening Matt and Jeff showed up at Alyssa's house. She was shocked to see them standing there when she opened the door.

"We talked things over and we decided that if you choose one of us then the other will be happy for you and bow out," Jeff said still standing outside. Matt who was standing next to him simply nodded.

"You know guys I had a chance to think things over since I left the wedding," she said.

"And what have you decided," Matt asked.

"I choose neither of you." They stared at her in shock. "I have school to worry about right now. That's my number one priority." They looked at each other and then back to her. "Besides guys I don't want to be the cause of sibling rivalry." With the she kissed their cheeks and said, "It was fun while it lasted. Find yourselves great girls and be happy." She closed the door and leaned up against the door for a moment before she went to her room and started to study.
