You walk into this weyr.It's dimly lit with glowbaskets.It's just barely light enough for you to see a bed,a table,a shelf with pots of numbweed,oil,and a bag of sweetsand,and a curtain to another room.You push through the curtain and reach the dragon's room,not quite as dark but almost.There's a dark form carrying a box and you tap the person on the shoulder.The box drops and you hear a shattering noise,followed by an explosive,"Shards!"The person whirls around and you see it's a girl.She's wearing a light purple and dark purple dress.She has dark brown hair pulled back in two messy plaits and emerald green eyes.Her eyes are narrowed at you.Her mouth is twisted into a scowl.She's tall for a girl and skinny."What'd you go and do that for?Now I've gotta clean up the mess.Who are you and what are you doing here anyway?"she asks,glaring."I just came to visit the candidates,"you tell her after saying your name."I'm Alicin,perhaps you've met my brother A'dam?He just Impressed blue Shawath from Jerdan Weyr,where I Impressed my beautiful green Insreth.My parents are Alakeen and Damacina.I haven't seen them since I was 8 Turns.You see,when I was five and my brother was eight,he found a wild firelizard clutch.I was to receive an egg from a firelizard clutch when I was eight because of that.But when I Turned 8,there were no firelizard clutches available.That wasn't a problem at the time.Since only a few girls in the Sea Hold were tall,a girl named Jaci and I were to switch out clearing glows.I was mad because Jaci had already gotten a firelizard egg and I hadn't.I should mention that Typhoon SeaHold was fairly close to a Glasscraft Hall.One day Jaci was supposed to clear the glows and she didn't,so she told the SeaHolder's wife that I was supposed to and I hadn't.She got in a rage and said that I would not get a firelizard egg.I muttered something I probably shouldn't have and ran off.I found a wild gold's clutch and took it to the Glassmith's hall.They gave me an egg and I Impressed blue Tinikal.Then they apprenticed me.Funny thing is,I wasn't really interested in being a glassmith then,but after I was there for a while,I decided that that was better than just being at a SeaHold all my life,especially that one.When Tinikal was old enough to take messages,I sent one to my brother Aladam,A'dam now,telling him I was all right and where I was.One day a dragonrider came by with a message for the Masterglassmith.He was out,but I was his assistant and I offered to take the message for him.The rider said no,but his eyes went off and he told me I was Searched,plain as that.This was when I was 11,so you can imagine how disbelieving I was.I told him that he was mistaken and he said,'No,my bronze says you'd make a good rider.'So off I went,and found that my brother was there too.Shortly after,I Turned 12,old enough to be a candidate.Then he Impressed his blue and I Impressed Insri!"she says."Do you have a journal?"you ask."Course not!Do you think I would've had time to write in a journal,being apprenticed to a Glassmith?"she says,scowling fiercely."Then what was in that box that you got so mad about it breaking?"you ask."See for yourself,"Alicin says,pushing back the lid flaps.You look inside and see...bottles of numbweed."Ugh!"you say,jumping back."They were in a smell-proof container until someone had to sneak up on me and make me drop them,"she says,glaring at you."Sorry,"you tell her meekly.She starts to walk away,pulling the box after her.She's just out of sight when you hear a startled,"Shells!"You rush after her and see a glowbasket knocked over and her sprawled out."What happened?"you ask."I tripped over the glow,"she explains,glowering at it.She picks up the glowbasket and sits it upright,then grabs a mug of klah.There's another one on the table,but you don't say anything.She stares at it for moment."Want some?"she says,offering the other mug.You gladly take it.There's a glass bowl on the table,with intricate patterns on the edges,and you ask Alicin if she made it."Yeah,when I was an older apprentice.Wanna see my first effort?"she asks,grinning devilishly.You nod.She opens another box and pulls out a deformed shape,which she sits on the table."It's supposed to be a bowl,"she explains,grinning wryly.You both turn away from the table and hear a crashing noise."By the egg,what's you do this time,Tini?"she says affectionately.Her affectionate smile turns to a fierce glare when you turn back around and see the deformed bowl in several pieces."Oh,shells,Tini,now I have to clean this up too,"Alicin says.She starts to pick up the pieces,then,"Ouch!"She immediately puts a pricked finger in her mouth.Doing so causes you to notice two bracelets made with black cord and glass beads."What's that?"you ask."Oh,nothing,just a little thing I made.My friend at the Glassmith's hall,her name was Tarina,we both made one and switched them when I got Searched.We promised we'd wear them,Fall,fog,or fire.She was my best friend.She used to live in the weyr but she didn't like the weyrlife,so she asked to be apprenticed to the Glasscraft.I don't know why.The Hall was nicer than the Hold but the Weyr is nicer still.I guess it had something to do with the fact that she stood for a few clutches and didn't Impress.She's older than me,15 Turns.She's still an apprentice though.She did better than me when we were making these.See,mine's got multi-color beads.The one's on hers are all blue.I made one of those for myself too,"she says,showing you the bracelets.She grins."At least Tini didn't break these when we were traveling here.I traveled adragonback,for the first time in my life.It didn't really scare me,but I was a little startled.Tarina,well,she told me it would be awful,but she was just afraid of dragons anyway,"Alicin says."By the way,I'm taking orders for bracelets like these.The Weyrwoman said that bracelets like these,I should sell them,but to tell the truth,I'm probably gonna give them out to anybody that orders them,"she says,grinning at you."Wanna see Insri?"she asks,a hopeful look on her face.You nod and she drags you to the room where you met her.In the dragon couch,a young green dragon is snoozing."That's my Insri!"she says proudly.She's definitely nicer now then she was when you met her and you suspect most of the kinder suggestions are coming from love of her dragon,for she seemed to perk up when you asked about Insreth."Well,Alicin,I'd better go,"you tell her.She makes a face."Aww,okay,see ya later!"she says.
