Grades 11 and 12 will follow the IB (International Baccalaureate) course while grades 9 and 10 will follow the Middle Years Program MYP curriculum.

ITGS (Information Technology in a Global Society) is a course that has as its main focus – the relationship between technology and society and the ethical considerations and social implications of living in a changing world. Above all else, this will be the main focus of class discussions. Students are expected to develop and utilise some IT skills to solve a real problem. This “problem” MUST be set firmly in a context where people will benefit because of the use of Information Technology. If your project does not assist people in solving a problem then DO NOT continue with it. You must decide on another project. The project MUST have some sort of social significance.

The MYP approach in IT focuses on teaching the student rather than just teaching a set menu of IT skills. I believe that the best way to learn IT skills is when it is set within a task or a challenge that is meaningful or interesting to the student. Enjoy the course.

Welcome to the world of IT
