Grand Champions
Families 2000 & Beyond!
~ Jump to the Clydesdale Families ~

After 1996, the last set of Classic Families dissapered. What a terrible time, with no proud moms & dads, no cute foals... in fact, the '98 & '99 horses did not come with foals at all! Was this to be the end of Grand Champion Family?

Things started to look better when Nuzzling Families arrived and took the GC world by storm. They completely eclipsed the classic family styles, which by now had all disappeared. What a shame! Then, around the turn of the century (wow, I can say that now!), a new Stable Set was released, and with it, a beautiful old-style Palomino Family! The family horses were BACK!

NEW! I have discovered that this set (shown above) is and exclusive offer available through Sears' Christmas Wishbook. At least here in Canada! It was offered first in '01, and has been re-offered for 2002. The Classic Palomino Family, is a simple set, and came with a stable. While the horses did not come with bio cards or tack (the Stallion has borrowed some for the picture!) they did have blankets, like Feed N Nuzzle Families. The foal is wearing his proper pink sheet, which matches his parents. We're just happy to have families again!

The New Families For 2002

The Thoroughbred Family
This handsome family reminds me of earlier families, in a good way! This is what I think of when one says "Family Horses"; and, from the looks of it, these guys will not only have tack, they have cool new accessories, too :)

The Boulonaise Family
I love this breed; elegant & delicate, yet in the body of a giant. And isn't it nice to see draft horses that aren't bay?!

The Palomino Family
This family seems to be a lively one at the ranch - they even come with a racing barrel!

The New Families For 2003

I know you haven't seen the '02 families yet, but here are Families 2003:

Hanoverian
Now here's a throwback to earlier years... dark bays in the classic pose. Interesting, I suppose, just not very origonal.

Dutch Warmbloods
Beautiful horses! Lovely colour (sure, it's chestnut, but what a nice shade!) They appear to come with a lovely little jump, too.

Clydesdale Families - 2001

In 2001, five years after the last set appeared, Grand Champions family sets came back in a big way - the beautiful Clydesdale... majestic, huge, and gosh, the foals are sooo cute! The unique horses in these sets were only released as a family, and came with fun horse-care accessories, too!

The Dapple Grey Family: "The Icing", "Aurora", and "Icicle"
This stallion is georgeous! There's no other way to put it. And the mare & foal are a perfect match for
Snowy Knight.

The Bright Bay Family: "Gentle Jim", "Lady Janice", and "Lady Jessica"
As a matter of fact, these horses are NOT bay at all... the are actually chestnuts.
Be nice if the actually researched colour once and a while, lol!

The Dark Bay Family: "Mac's Pride", "Rhapsody's Song", and "Pride's Song
These horses are bay... and beautiful! They are blood bay, to be exact. And did I mention beautiful?

Clydesdale Families 2002

The Brown Family
Stallion: Sire Noble, Mare: Lady Grace, Foal: Patience
Hmmm... these horses aren't nearly as dark as their prototypes... what a shame ;) They actually read much better as Shires, as thier white stocking fade so nicely into plumes.

The Blue Roan Family
Stallion: Dozydoats, Mare: Marzydoats, Foal: Little Lamzydivy
These horses look much more grey then roan (the prototype was roan; these, are grey) But nontheless, it's nice to have group of Clydesdales who aren't bay!

The Blood Bay Family
Stallion: Léviathan, Mare: 'Ello Love, Foal: Nessie
Is it just me, or do these guys look a lot like the Dark Bay family of the year before? Now, I know there are only so many colours a clydie can come in, but *variety* is a good thing...

Don't forget to check out the Feed'n'Nuzzle Families which you can view on their own page. We're looking forward to many great more families to come!

Thanks to Jaclyn for the pictures of the 2002 horses :) Remember to check out WarWind Stables for all the 2002 previews! And thanks to Ansku for help with the 2002 names, and Riikka for the picture of her Brown Clydesdale Family below :)
