I then built the Scottish Kilt page for the benefit of
40 or so ICQ contacts... I had been sent the pic by a
friend in Thailand.
The picture first appeared in the South China Morning Post
I am told,
and it was taken at the Hong Kong
handover ceremonies.
It is of a Black Watch Guard.
Anyway, back to the story - I had found the picture
so amusing that I used it as wallpaper for a few weeks
- then I decided to make it into a page and, from having
sent it to just 40 on my ICQ list....the rest is history and the page counter is in the millions - we have used 9 counters at angelfire - each one holds 1 million hits.

We fear that due to the sheer number of contacts we shan't be able to give some of the
people the time and friendship they deserve.
I try
to keep my computer hobby as un-intrusive as possible
and therefore
I limit my time on line so that I spend more and adequate
time with hubby and kids....*S*

I usually work on it all in the evenings after the
children have gone to bed, Bryn is usually working
too or reading
so no-one 'misses' me...

One 65 yr old lady wrote "Turn the guy AROUND!!!" I wrote back and said that I had already tried FLIP and MIRROR in Photoshop - to no avail!
A Scottish chap wrote
"Of course NOTHING is worn under
the kilt..it's all in perfect working order!"*LOL*
You see.... it has been fun! It has shown us how caring
and thoughtful some of the internet users are.
The
lovely people who wrote to us took 15/20 minutes, maybe more,
of their time to write lengthy, informative, encouraging
e-mails and I answered about 80% of them.
The guestbook at one point could not cope with the 200+ entries every day. With one hit on average every one and a half seconds, it often wasn't accessible.
Our experience with the popularity of our homepage has shown us that there are some lovely people linked by this thing Inter they call the Net! We have made so many friends and many we have ended up meeting as they have sailed or flown through Dubai where we used to live.
Sincerely
D xx
