LCSC Coaching Staff

Lissa Parker, Head Coach

Coach Lissa has been with LCSC since 1987, when she joined as a team parent. Soon thereafter she joined Oregon Masters and started the journey towards becoming a swimmer as an adult, under the then LC Clippers coach Brad Thomas. Since that time, she has served as board member, concessions coordinator, meet director, computer and registration parent , team President and assistant Taft High School coach. Coach Parker is now starting the twelvth year as head coach for LCSC.

Born in NY city, Lissa lived overseas and traveled extensively as a child. Her father was a senior intelligence officer within the US State Departmentand her mother a writer and journalist. Lissa grew up speaking several languages and adapting to many environments. Though not involved in extensively in school sports, she competed in equestrian competitions and participated in ballet. A favorite pastime was snorkeling and swimming in the Mediterranean ocean, while she lived in Sicily. Graduating from high school in Phoenix, Arizona , Lissa spent some time studying at Arizona State University, as an art major and linguist. She moved to Oregon in 1972 and made the state her home. In her other work she is the Medical Staff Coordinator at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital. Coach Parker has also been involved in Oregon Masters Swimming and Triathlon competitions for the past twenty years.

  • Jason Garding, Assistant Staff

    Though more comfortable surfing the big waves at the Nelscott Reef, Jason Garding has been involved with the Lincoln City Swim Club and Taft High Swim Team off and on since his adolescence. One of the record holders for the Taft High Swim team, Jason left Lincoln City after high school. He then returned here from working in Los Angeles and has been a fixture at the pool and recreation center for many years. He is the Aquatics Supervisor at the Lincoln City Pool, and the Taft High Swim Team assistant coach. Jason teaches lifeguarding and water safety, swimming lessons, and holds water polo games regularly at the pool in the evenings. He also surf's - recently winning eight place in a national professional surfing big wave competition, and is an accomplished Masters swimmer and tri- athlete. His children Marlee, Madison, and Mason all swim for the LCSC team. Jason’s wife Kary was also one of the record holders for both teams as a high school swimmer.
