NEW HOME AT GLADDEN HEIGHTS FARM

Backfill, tamp, trusses

April 04, 2001 - This day the porch and garage were partially backfilled and tamped. The black waterproofing on the external foundation wallls is seen covered with glass wool. This layer is required to allow the seepage of water down the wall surface to the drainage tile below.

The house is delivered.

April 05, 2001 - The new house is delivered. A very exciting day in Copetown. The Bonham Quality Home provided great entertainment for the community. Many friends and neighbors were there to watch the 60 ton crane lift the modules of the home into place.

Inside the new house.

April 05, 2001 - Inside the new house we have our first look at the factory-installed cabinetry. We can confirm that the time spent in locating and orienting the house on the lot was time well spent.

Rain damage

April 08, 2001 - A visit to the new house surprises us with water dripping from the ceiling in the front hall into a puddle on the floor. Drywall ceiling seams and wall sections are damp. The finished oak hardwood trim provides a fast track for droplets headed to the floor.

Roofing, repairing drywall

April 09, 2001 - The "stitch crew" arrives. Trusses are added and sheathed, then shingles laid. Inside a tradesman replaces sections of damaged drywall. The porch begins to take shape.

Roofing, Framing the garage

April 10, 2001 - Roofing continues. The garage is framed. Unfortunately we miss a meeting with the vendor's representative at the site this day, but plan to meet in two days on April 12. We have some questions concerning the framing of the roof.

Cashew the Cat
Photo by "Uncle" John Jones Cashew

Rescued from the backyard alley, Cashew was an important member of our family for the two years he was with us. At first known by the animal hospital's staff only as "Kitty" Bonham, Cashew was given his name after a long process of selection. With his colour and the way he sleeped curled up, he looked like a big cashew. When rescued, his age was estimated by the vet at ten years plus and Cashew was always in the class of the "less-active" cat. He enjoyed snoozing most of the day and watching birds and sunbeams in the mornings. Cashew's worsening condition of renal failure led us to the decision to end his suffering. He is missed.§

What the heck kind of cat is that anyways? Although likely not a purebred, Cashew showed many traits of the somali breed, including his pronounced muzzle, and furry breeches and ruff. Somalis are a long-haired Abyssinian breed of cat. To see more about somali cats, try this link.http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/somali.html

Great throbbing brains! How about this family and all our creativity. Whoahh! Yeah! If you're a junior Einstein... if you efficiently correct your parents' grammar... or if you conceal chalk pastels and charcoal pencils in your purse to sketch at work, we need your contribution here.
