Analysis

Welcome to the Bob Dylan Analysis Page! This is the place where I will try and understand the life and poetry of Bob Dylan. He is an amazing artist and to even attempt to understand him fully is quite a goal. I'm just simply going to write my thoughts, and hopefully you will have an opinion to, that can be posted here. Email me what you think. Thanks.

I've been trying to figure out what to say about Bob Dylan. But, what can I say? He's a poet. He's an artist. He's a legend. But that doesn't mean anything unless you've really listened to his music. He is a "classic" poet and tells great impressionist stories in his lyrics. Dylan revolutionized the music industry without it never even knowing. He had put forth the concept of a lyrical masterpiece, against criticism of his voice and sound. But Dylan's presence in music would never fade. Listening to the music of the artist to follow after the years of Dylan's popularity (1980 to present), you can undoubtably here him in the music. His poetic visionism. He changed the whole idea of what music was meant to be. Dylan gave the music meaning, purpose and power. He had lead the sixties and fought through the seventies. I listen to such songs as "Visions Of Johanna" and "Tangled Up In Blue" and I'm blown away by his ability to tell a story. I feel as though I am the person in the song. Dylan has a way of making you feel spiritual, without you even realizing it. And yet, his words are so simple. But the music isn't. Dylan came into the music industry a new face, but now sits in the music indusrty as a legend. He came in and changed everything, and no one would know it. -June 18/99
