Aims and Objectives of the Canberra Injectors Network
To minimize the harms associated with illicit/injecting drug use through the provision of ongoing peer education;
To promote safer drug using practises through the provision of ongoing peer education;
To promote safer sex practises through the provision of ongoing peer education;
Provide support, advice, information, advocacy and assistance to people who use/have used drugs by injection and/or use illicit drugs;
Lobby for drug law reform measures which will minimize the harms associated with illicit/injecting drug use;
Lobby for a legal and administrative framework which does not discriminate against people who use/have used drugs by injection and/or illicit drugs;
Educate the community about issues relevant to illicit/injecting drug use;
Establish policies to facilitate informed debate on issues relating to illicit/injecting drug use and drug policy;
Participate where possible in national and international gatherings of peer based drug user organisations.
CIN does not condone or condemn the use of drugs - legal or illegal. CIN is only interested in making sure that those people who use drugs do so safely and with sufficient resources to make an informed decision.
